Manny Diaz New DC

Love the hire guy was great everywhere but Texas. TEXAS IS STILL A DISASTER

Where was he great? I'm not seeing it.

He's never been great. Has never produced great results and his defenses have been absolutely dragged around the field many many times.

Randy Shannon would be way down my list of potential DC hires, but he's produced much better defenses than Diaz has.

Legit question: If the Missouri DL coach is so special, as many here tout, why would a guy like that hook his trailer to a DC that is being painted as so bang average? Did the DL coach not have other options? Did he agree believing we would land another DC? I just dont see why a guy who has been hailed as the "best DL coach in College football" would come here when such an apparent blah DC hire was in the pipeline?

B/C Mark Richt is a highly respected man and he was out of a job. Richt offered him good money to come coach at the University of Miami.

I'm serious when I say this: I'd rather have Coach Kool running the D than the assclown we just hired.

While MSU defensive rankings improved this year under him it's concerning to see that whenever he played a team with a pulse he seemed to give up a lot of points and yards.

250+ yards rushing to LSU (Yeah, I know it's Fournette so I'll give him a semi-pass)
300+ yards passing to Jeff Driskel (Yeah....) at LA Tech
30 points, 516 total yards to Texas A&M
31 points, 235 yards rushing to Bama
50 points, QB threw for 406 yards, 7 tds, 0 int's to Arkansas
38 points, 479 total yards to Ole Miss

He took advantage of some bad offenses but also got abused by teams that had some decent offenses. It's pretty concerning.

THIS THIS THIS. His defense gets lit up any time he plays a good team. This hire is so ******* depressing man.

Horrible

Let's see who slots in as DB coach.
I agree with you on the "luke warm' feel of this hire on it's own, but Diaz, Coach Kool, and Raymond can work for me.

I think the entire thing at Texas was a ******* disaster, and I'm willing to blame Mack Brown. His defenses at Middle Tennessee and Mississippi State were very, very good, and his secondaries at NC State were some of the best in the nation in a very good defense.

Might happen in a couple years if MD doesn't can't handle it...

If Coach Kool is everything that is touted here, then surely he would have had many options other than Miami - probably even some better options. I understand Richt is a **** decent dude, but it seems that the opinion of Diaz (if this was known by coach Kool which he must have prior to signing) is much higher than the opinion of a few agitated members of this cesspool. In a sense, if a coach of Coach Kool's stature is good-to-go-go with Diaz, that speaks volumes more than the the overly opinionated assclowns that post here. Seems like Richt and Kool are more knowledgeable than CIS posters....but I could be wrong lol.

So Far:

Those that Think Diaz is a solid hire: Mark Richt, Coach Kool, Jonathan Vilma

Those that dont: Internet personalities that sell insurance

Fired midseason at Texas. They had to bring Greg Robinson in to clean up his mess

I'm not defending his perfromance at UT, but, can it objectively be said he was the issue with a declining Lomghorns squad?

Was he the whole, part, or none of the problem?

So, all the neutral "pundits," "experts" and people who get paid to analyze this, love the hire. Miami fans on a message board hate it. Seems legit.

Even my MSU friends are texting good luck with this hire.

Manny Diaz defensive rankings (total/scoring)

2010 MSU: 49th/22nd
2011 UT: 11th/33rd
2012 Texas: 69th/74th
2013 Texas: incomplete, was fired after giving up 550 rushing yards to Baylor
2014 LA Tech: 32nd/54th
2015 MSU: 36th/58th

These are absolutely terrible numbers folks. He doesnt have a single elite season to fall back on. Not a single example of being a great DC.

Here's whats scary: Mark D'Onofrio has more top 25 finishes in his career than Manny Diaz. That's right, you read that correctly.

Does any one else want this ***** fullyERicht banned?

Not that he needs defending, but FullyERicht is blunt and tells the truth. That he can come off a bit strong, yes, but majority of what he says is spot on...

Besides I wouldn't bark up that tree if I were you, he will **** on you and what u think u know...

Isn't this the same excuse people gave Golden for crap results at Temple?

We just found out that Aranda was offered but we lost out so Richt panicked and hired Diaz.

11th in total defense isn't elite?

K.

LOL so he had one time in his entire career where he got close to the top 10 in total D. ONE TIME. Yet still was was middle of the pack in scoring d that same year. No defense that is 33rd in scoring D is elite.
