Manny Diaz New DC

Here is a quote from Vilma

But what does he know!! lol at some of you guys on here.

Jesus christ. So years of data that shows he is at best mediocre and at worst D'Onofrio Part 2 are irrelevant.

But a tweet where Vilma says he is happy about a 4-3, that means Manny Diaz is awesome?

Listening to yo *** <<<<< listening to a Miami legend/pro bowler who got richt here

Vilma wanted us to hire Charlie Strong. Manny Diaz has been at best mediocre, and at worst an unmitigated disaster.

That's right guys dont listen to actual professional football players or professional football coaches or even professional opinions.

Listen to this blowhard troll who hates Miami.

FN loser!

Good hire or not, I honestly don't know enough about him, but I do know this...His Dad assisted with the destruction of our beloved home at the OB....this hire is a slap on the face to real cane fans everywhere...out of all the DC's in college football, UM had to hire Manny Diaz? Maybe Fidel Castro JR can be out next mayor.

Does anyone know what, if any, changes he made to his approach after being fired at Texas?

I remember everyone at the time claiming his defense was too complicated at Texas and that he got too cute with his approach and tried to be too smart. Now I'm hearing guys saying his defense is ultra simple.

Does anyone have any real info about what he changed after his Texas abortion?

This was his D against an ACC team the other night? Thoughts?

Yeah, Texas was a dumpster fire...

Since then he took La. Tech's D from 70 to 35 in one offseason and then MSU's D from 86 to 57, also in one off season. Might not be the DC we wanted (Aranda) but he did that with much lesser talent at those schools than he is going to get here, give the dude a shot. Not to mention Kool's DLine is going to have some impact.

Wait facts dont matter. Just tell him he is a FN troll and tell him to leave Miami fans alone.

He just took one of the weakest talent basis in the SEC and bested his teams defense 50 slots in one season.

And he runs one the most aggressive defenses in the SEC.

pair that with coach kool and its a home run hire for people who have been Miami fans for some time.

Miami fans love aggressive attacking football that utilizes our speed.

Its what has made us Miami and is how we will win our next title!

While MSU defensive rankings improved this year under him it's concerning to see that whenever he played a team with a pulse he seemed to give up a lot of points and yards.

250+ yards rushing to LSU (Yeah, I know it's Fournette so I'll give him a semi-pass)
300+ yards passing to Jeff Driskel (Yeah....) at LA Tech
30 points, 516 total yards to Texas A&M
31 points, 235 yards rushing to Bama
50 points, QB threw for 406 yards, 7 tds, 0 int's to Arkansas
38 points, 479 total yards to Ole Miss

He took advantage of some bad offenses but also got abused by teams that had some decent offenses. It's pretty concerning.

Conceptually, Richt clearly wanted an aggressive attacking defense. Both Diaz and Aranda are similar in that regard. Its just Aranda has a track record of exceptional defenses and Manny Diaz has a very modest at best track record with some downright **** thrown in there.

Aranda would have been an A hire, even if I wasn't a big fan of the 3-4 look with South Florida athletes.
Manny Diaz represents a B- type hire.

Its solid, its what we're looking for thematically, but the track record is a bit spotty.

I wouldn't care if he was Black-Irish, heck I'm black. His total body of work since he's been a DC, is what I go by. And he's the real deal every since he was at MTSU

The lukewarm responses about this hire, shows me that
A. You obviously don't know how good of a coach he is.
B. You look at the 1 year in Texas as a measuring stick.
C. You was zoned in on the candidates mentioned more frequently on here.

I don't post much, I'm on here everyday though, so scratch the posts number. I believe this is a fantastic hire, and our boys better get in shape and in the playbook! Great hire Richt!

What exactly makes him a fantastic hire, other than he is cuban and coached in the SEC? His results?

However, I don't like hearing this.

Was told that Dave Aranda would be heading to #Miami if not for #LSU .

If Steele stayed at LSU, we would have had Aranda
That's why you strike fast like a cobra and don't sit around with your thumb up your ***. There was a very large window of time between the date that Richt was hired and the date that Steele left LSU. Should have locked up Brown or Aranda during that window. Instead, we get Dale' II.

Dammit Franchise et tu brute'?

I usually agree with 99% of what you say but I think youve been influenced by FullyEricht mane... Brown or Arandda? cmon mane

I love how a lot of these cats say they don't like the hire. Most of them, like me, have no idea if he's good or not. Other than maybe a half a dozen people on this board the rest of us need to shut the **** up and see how he does because in actuality were not qualified to judge either way.

there's no evidence to support this argument that his system "takes 3 years to implement" or whatever. the texas defense actually improved to top 10 in the country in his first season there, and the la tech defense improved dramatically in his only season there.

it's funny that this board spent 4 years begging to get back to an aggressive 4-3 defense (and rightfully so) but is somehow mad that we hired someone who is... too aggressive?

He FN bested Miss State 50 slots in the rankings in 1 FN yer in the best division in all of college with sub par talent.
He improved their scoring defense 50 slots? I'm seeing you repeat this mantra like a transcendental meditation session. How much did he improve all the defensive rankings from the prior season at MSU? Don't just cherry pick that one stat.
