Manny Confirms Blake Baker is Still calling the Defense

I thought that both @Liberty City El and @Canes Brotherhood mentioned that Manny’s been calling plays? They’ll set me straight.

You saw the quote from Manny and seized on what you wanted here. Manny’s not going to emasculate Baker publicly and @No_Fly_Zone says the interview didn’t go exactly as OP portrayed it to start the thread.

As I wrote earlier, the defensive play calling is atrocious until the 3rd or 4th qtr. Something changed then, with the likely reason being Manny took over either play calling or what he wanted done.

Please show me where I seized on anything. All I want is a definitive answer and literally no one has it.

Some here, you included, are the ones seizing on fan board speculation and assuming it’s fact.

You’re on a mission to prove that Manny hasn’t taken over some portion of the defense from Baker so that you can deflect pressure away from the situation and Manny.

I named two highly respected posters that said Manny’s been calling plays. There are others as well. You saw what you wanted to see from that interview snippet and took it to mean that it never happened when you know there’s no way Manny would embarrass Baker - and he shouldn’t. On top of it, another highly respected poster said that’s not the whole interview/context.

Exactly. I love the poster I’m arguing with, he’s a great guy, slurper or not - who I mess with at times bc he’s a friend and I just do that bc I’m a doofus in his words, lol but Manny would never embarrass Baker that way.

When has Manny publicly embarrassed anyone? If he didn’t disparage Enos, what makes you think he’ll throw Baker ( a friend no less) under the bus? Lol

10 wins is going to get manny some wiggle room from the powers that be financially. Now he just has to overcome his ego. Overhauling the offense was a no brainer. He’s not a offensive coach and he saw how bad we were. What he decides to do defensively will be fascinating if he does make a move at all.

Do you think it needs a system overhaul or just replacing certain coaches?

Maybe getting better defensive recruiters (with the idea that they will bring in better recruits) will help accentuate Manny’s system.

Dude there is no pressure on Manny to deflect when it comes to this. The defense just played a rock solid game. We’re about to beat the dog **** out of GT to go 8-1.

Dealing with mopes and trolls all day here has totally warped your perspective.

it is a PEOPLE overhaul. the only people worth keeping on D are Stroud and Banda in large part because of their recruiting abilities.

As has been mentioned multiple times in this thread, Manny didn't say a bad word about Anos last year, and he was right out the door after the season. He isn't going to throw Baker under the bus either.

you can run the same front but the fire zone scheme needs to be tweaked. We are way too predictable for half the game..hire somebody who runs and attacking 4-3 but let them do it their way
