Manny Confirms Blake Baker is Still calling the Defense

We held VT to two touchdowns below their scoring average.

Defense, despite the CIS hysteria, has played about two halves of really bad football all season.

Got to keep getting better cause two huge late season tests are coming in Wake and UNC,

While the D looked suspect at times against VT, keep in mind, as already mentioned, we held them below their scoring average while shorthanded, and held them 100 yards below their average, also shorthanded. And 53 of their 360 yards came on one busted play. All in all, not bad.
As another already questioned, how good could this D be with competent LB's?

When I was defensive coordinator, the input from guys like Ephraim Banda, Jonathan Patke, and Mike Rumph…we have all been together in the scheme for so long and we have all seen the same things. We have guys that have been together since 2011, so that communication is going on and we have great ideas from everybody on the staff. I am really excited about the way we are getting better on defense and the way those guys are playing—and we needed it. We needed to make plays and Blake made some great calls to get after the quarterback in that game.”
Blake made some great calls. Did not say Blake does not get over ruled.

Don't be impressed by defending VT for 1 qtr. and winning by 1. VT offense is trash and in reality we struggled "mightily" against this garbage offensively and defensively. Nobody on here truly believes we can defend any of the top 15 offenses in college ball. Baker and crew need to be gone.
Yeah we should listen to you! Vt is da best rushing offense in college, And it wasn't jus herbert either.

It just kinda feels like no matter who plays LB the scheme disables their ability to succeed...

Trying to get Baker a lateral move to a P5 or a promotion to a G5.

When I read that comment, my first thought was Manny knows the fan base is crucifying Baker. I felt he went out of his way to make those specific comments about Baker making good calls.

He knows everyone watching the game saw him with Cooney on the sidelines- it sure looked like he was in charge in those shots. I agree with @Jassid82 in that Manny may not have decided what, if anything, he is going to do with any of the defensive staff.
