Miami Punted the ball on Offense 10 times, was 4/15 on 3rd down & only ran 59 plays the whole game.
Was the Defense perfect? No, not by any standard, they underperformed.
But, they gave the Offense 2 turnovers with a short field on the 30yd line & the Offense couldn't score.
Was the game 100% Rosier's fault? No... The OL, Richt & Special Teams deserve blame too & so does the Defense.
But, the Defense should be the last unit that catches heat for that game, it's quite obvious how the flow of the game went, the Offense didn't hold up their end & as a result he Defense eventually gave way.
The Defense has to score for us to win now? The Defense has to shut teams out for us win? They shouldn't expect for the Offense to be able to put up 3 TD's at least? Is that what yall are saying?
We have a ton of weapons on Offense, lots of speed on the perimeter & they're only good for a score or two and the Defense has to carry it the rest of the way or we lose is what you're saying?
Come on man... You don't have to reach this hard to make excuses, call a spade a spade.
Against Clemson we're going to have to bring our A game, every unit better show up & play their best game.
This is a good team no need to justify poor performances, they're all big boys & they know when they fcked up, Coaches have to get them ready & prepared for the biggest game this program has played in over a decade.
Agree 100%. But when virtually every unit on the team, at minimum, underperforms (this was the Pitt qbs first start!) and some are just abysmal (special teams, qb) that means the team was simply not ready to play on Friday at noon. That's on the head coach. I've actually coached 16- 18 year old high school kids (wrestling) and it's really not that hard to tell when they have no focus and would rather play grabass than execute at a high level. Richt gets paid A LOT of money to figure these things out. Disappointed in the HC more than Rosier.
The score was 10-7. We had 2 turnovers. WR were getting opened and not getting the ball. "Not ready to play" is a tired media narrative. We wouldn't be talking about punting if Malik hit the open WRs yesterday.
Well except that our defense dominated a ND team that is widely considered to have an OL that is among the best in football. Pitt is not nearly on that level and the qb was starting his first game ever. So we established that our D can easily dominate a lesser team. The Pitt qb should have been on his *** or running for his life nearly every play. Instead a QB who I think runs about 190 lbs soaking wet on multiple occasions trucked the Miami defenders and dragged them five yards on tackles. It looked like a Dnofrio coached defense. That "falls into the" not ready to play" category for me.
