People are surprised to hear Malik called a leader, SMH. He may lagged behind in some mechanics and decision making in the pocket early on. But he has the leadership quality and the toughness that players around him respected before and will even respect more going forward.
Malik was just quoted that "prior to the duke game i never even watched film". He's certainly come a long way since then but let's slow down on the accolades.
How can that be? Does that make sense? If you're the QB coach or the HC, wouldn't you demand all the QBs' watch film with you in meetings? I have a feeling that he was either misquoted or the quote was taken out of context. No way he would have been kept on the roster if he never showed up to meetings where QB's watch films and study defenses.
I wish it was a misquote. Here is the exact quote. Obviously a lot of this falls on the old staff, but it's still disheartening.
