I haven't looked the play over from different angles. From the couple times I viewed the play, it seemed that the DB was face guarding Toney. The DB was not making a play on the ball, was not even looking back to see the ball arriving. He was facing Toney the whole time in the clip I saw. When the WR and the DB have contact and the latter is not playing the ball, the penalty, if one is called, is normally defensive PI. At least, that how the NFL deals with such a situation. Of course, I would never put ACC refs at a level of competence equal to those in the NFL.

The Lightfoot “unnecessary roughness” was equally egregious.

this is egregious. does he enjoy the protection of a QB when chasing someone to make a tackle? i don't think so. lightfoot should not have trucked him but it isn't a penalty

Geez..that was it? He pushed the poor baby down and he got a boo boo….that’s as bad as Mali's OPI call….

Lightfoot made a great play and then cost his team by being dumb.

Don’t think it should’ve been called …. But def a dumb play to even give the refs the chance. Completely unnecessary.

I think the worst call was actually the RTP on Wilson early in the game.

He hit him almost simultaneously with the ball coming out. Garbage call.

This was a different view of the td. Man, I can kinda see why the ref called that, but man that seems like a little ticky tak for me.

ACC refs man! SMH they bounce back-and-forth from Tiki Tac stuff, to actually letting them play. You never know what you’re gonna get from them, it’s like a crapshoot.
