Db also grabbing so F that call. It’s not like he got a ton of separation from it. If anything, db grabbed so Toney pushed just so he could get both arms up.

In the CFP, TD. In the nfl, TD. In HS,TD. Only in the ACC
 
Nope, sorry. Mali did put his hand on the defenders chest, but didn’t grab, hold or push off. Receivers do that every play. What Mali did right there did not warrant an OPI. What Mali did has never been called OPI until now. We may never see that call again, because it was horse ****.

For a receiver to get an OPI, they basically have to grab the defender and thrown them down, push off with both hands so strongly that it creates 1-2 yards of separations, or extend their arm out all the way into the defender to keep them away.

I haven't looked the play over from different angles. From the couple times I viewed the play, it seemed that the DB was face guarding Toney. The DB was not making a play on the ball, was not even looking back to see the ball arriving. He was facing Toney the whole time in the clip I saw. When the WR and the DB have contact and the latter is not playing the ball, the penalty, if one is called, is normally defensive PI. At least, that how the NFL deals with such a situation. Of course, I would never put ACC refs at a level of competence equal to those in the NFL.

Yep, it's a bad call, but you can't be doing that type of hit on any player in the open field 30 yards away from the play. The hit was legal, it wasn't a blind side or anything too malicious, but it was unnecessary. They are probably calling that, even if he hits an o-lineman, running back, or receiver. But they are 100% calling it if you hit the qb, regardless if the hit is legal.
