Malek Young - Welcome to the U

I like Becker and Cook more than Malek . Has nothing to do with stars, Watch film. To me the 2 best defense backs in state this year are Cook and Becker. Closely followed by Byrd.

Now I want to Richt go get Cook and Becker to show me has can get a great player.

Richt aint got to prove **** to you. He has shown in his 15 years at uga that ge can get great players. ****ers like you just need to shut the **** up.

We need db's so I imagine that's his spot, but **** he's special with the ball in his hands .

Been one of my favorite prospects for over a year

You need guys like that on defense though.

Getting the WR targets we have is vital. Keeping guys like Byrd and Young at their money positions at DB improves our secondary.

No doubt. I'm just saying the kid would be a stud at whatever spot he plays. I prefer guys with his skill set a db, good db's are hard to find . Wr's grow on trees .

This is shaping up to be a excellent DB class. Maybe add one more safety? This is how it should be in Miami with all of the speed at DB. Golden didn't do a horrible job at the DB positions - but there was definately room for improvement.

CB - Byrd
CB - Young
CB - Jackson
CB - Wiggins
S - Wright

Jackson is likely gone, staff still hasnt spoke to him. Wiggins should be all in now after being contacted.... add 2 more corners (Becker and Robinson) and 2 safties (Pierre and Finley)

Hope to see him returning kicks and punts instead of berrios.

Dude is criminally underrated on all these sites..great get

Army All-American athlete and Coconut Creek (Fla.) senior, Malek Young, just made his second commitment to head coach Mark Richt, this time at the nearby University of Miami.

Former Georgia commit and Army All-American cornerback, Malek Young, doesn't take his official visit to the nearby University of Miami (Fl) until next weekend, but the versatile star out of Coconut Creek (Fla.) High simply couldn't wait any longer.
Speculation and rumors started to swirl once the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Young cancelled this weekend's official visit to Clemson. Young still has a trip locked in with South Carolina for Jan. 29, but his mind has been made up and he found no reason to wait any longer, resulting in a commitment to Mark Richt and the Hurricanes on Friday afternoon.
"It's been on my chest for a while," Young said. "I wanted it to be known that when I attend UM, I want my name to be brought up when they're talking about changing around the program, and I believe that I can.
"UM has a lot of talent and I believe that it will be shown very soon. I also can't wait to get coached by a defensive back (Mike Rumph) that played for UM. He can put me in the lead and give me knowledge on and off the field."

Young, who also committed to Richt when he was the head coach at Georgia, possesses additional offers from Clemson, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Ohio State, UCLA and Wisconsin among others. Young also checks in as the 54th-ranked cornerback on Scout.
Young is a well-rounded athlete that also does a significant amount of damage on offense, but plays with great physicality and awareness when lining up at cornerback. The Broward County standout possesses the speed to go one-on-one and blanket wide receivers downfield, but his ability to break down and wrap up in space really soaks up my attention.
You also have to like Young's ability to transform into an offensive weapon after coming down with an interception. Young has a reputation for making the eye-popping grab, so his body control and ball skills are things to check off as well.
Friday is off to a great start if I'm a supporter of the U.

So our DB depth for next year:

CB 1 - Corn
CB 2 - Redwine
CB 3 - Byrd?
CB 4 - Young?
CB 5 - Jackson?

FS - Jenkins
SS - Carter
FS - Johnson

Didn't include any other potential frosh or guys like Ryan Mayes

I could see the post spring depth chart looking like this...

LCB:
1. Corn
2. Byrd
RCB:
1. Redwine
2. M. Jackson
3. C. Wright
Nickel:
1. M. Young

It's crazy that scout has him as the 54th best corner. How does one make an all American game and get offers from every major program and all the coaches considered the best in the business and end up ranked so low?

Coach Rumph did tweet he wont take no for an answer...lol.... Go Canes!

Well, looks like he is battin' 1.000 so far with that! Lol. Great pickup. He is a balla. Thought we might have needed to fight off some other suitors but he looks to really have been impressed with Richt and what he potentially was going to build here. Finally got a Creek boy! Manny Greene c/o 2017 you are next!

Great to see we're no longer focusing on retarded height and weight numbers at CB and are paying more attention to elite athleticism and playmaking ability.

Looks like a tall 5'9.5 to me. Don't think size will be an issue at all. He's already filled out pretty well.

I like this kids film. Seems to have great agility and seems to have great reaction time. My guess from that short clip is that he's a smart football player out there and anticipates things well. I love kids with GameBrain (TM).
Sounds like you've seen a lot of him Geo.......would you says his smarts out there are a real strength?
