Malcolm Bunche To Transfer

Good news. One less guy to be in the Kehoe shuffle. Maybe we will settle on playing the 5 best guys all game instead of rotating them like hockey lines.

semi-related topic, but don't be surprised if KC McDermott starts at tackle from Day 1 and never looks back. One of the most talented OL recruits in recent memory, if not ever. He's that good.

I would be surprised. Kid has great upside, but Im not sure he's ready to start as a true Frosh. Guess we will see how fast he picks things up in the Spring. I think he could use a year in the Weight room to really solidify. Has the potential to be a monster.

I understand how hard it is for a freshman OL to contribute, but I stand by my statement (based admittedly on what I've gleaned from other sources) - if Jason Fox could start at LT from day 1, so can KC - and I think KC is far more advanced than Jason was.

The same people telling the "slurpers" to settle down, that "the seniors returning and not entering the draft had nothing to do with approving of the staff" are now pouncing on the Bunche situation as a chance to clobber Golden. Called the Seniors "robots" and in no way indicated approval of the current state of the program.

You can't have it both ways.

Kids transfer from every program, every year, for different reasons. We move on.

Exactly. Perryman and Feliciano, both more productive and more important than Bunche, stayed for their senior year. The Golden haters give him no credit. A back up o-lineman who provides quality depth but wants to be a starter transfers, and Golden is "losing the team." Gotta love the logic.

A senior who would have saw major PT transfers? Not good. He was a solid OL. Love how kids who played behind him are all of sudden better.

Bunche saw his reps disappear late, taken by Wheeler. ****, at one point they started Flowers, Feliciano, McD, Wheeler, Linder....the dude was 3rd off the bench by the end of the year. His reps were even taken by Isidora (off foot surgery) when he got back. Like I said, I questions a lot of this staff's choices but did anyone watch the film on this kid or even watch him play? We won't miss him.

This. People just cant stop rewriting history here. Guy went from a back up who was getting less and less playing time, to suddenly this key piece of our OL that is going to devastate us losing. At most this hurts depth, but seems the kid just wants a chance to start, and maybe get himself noticed. The ONLY reason a kid would do this, is if they thought there was little chance they were going to be the starter, which seemed pretty obvious that Bunche wasnt.

What is killing this team right NOW, is Shannon's LAST class, and the transition 2011 class which was a catastrophe.

What's killing our team right now is the fact that Al Golden, a clueless moron, is our head coach.

Aint that the truth. Going on year 4 of Golden and people are still blaming Shannon.

funny thing is people were blaming coker for shannon's woes for the entire time shannon was here, and that's completely disregarding the fact that shannon was on the staff before he was the HC.

The truth is, this is when Al's first real class is going to be juniors. The seniors are dudes he cobbled together in like 3 weeks.... aside from that, we have still seen an upward trend with Golden's teams, so all of this the world is crumbling stuff is a bit premature... especially given Golden (and Donof's) track record as an HC and DC combo..

There is a level of absurdity that makes it painful to discuss things here. Many people who support Golden and want him to succeed are also very angry and annoyed with the progress of the team. Taking everything that happens and spinning it anti-Golden is absurd. The new board rules don't really help. I'd rather have another poster call me a ******* ******* than **** up every thread with garbage.

A year ago, in a similar situation, the board would have been saying that this player has been passed over and this creates a spot for another recruit, transfer, etc.

I'm not sure I 100% agree with that either, but spinning it to a Golden is losing the team agenda when no underclassmen are jumping early, is just promoting nonsense.

And THIS is really all it boils down to. Every coach deserves his chance to get his players and system in place before people decide what they have. Golden does not have his players in place. That's a fact. 2011 Shannon left this program in SHAMBLES. This staff had to cobble together a patchwork mess of JAGs just to fill roster spots. Its the 2010 and 2011 class that we had to mostly rely on this year, and despite that, our record still improved.

We will not know what we have here as a staff, until their players really mature and blossom as the leaders and upperclassmen of this team. Obviousy, much of our fan base is not going to give them the opportunity to develop, but that is foolish and premature. The fact is, AG is going to be our HC next year, and almost certainly the year after that. So why not hope that things get better, rather than sit here hoping for two years of misery, so you can say "ah ha, I was right"? I just dont get that.

You just never know how a team is going to develop and grow. And its too early to pass final judgement on AG IMO. Just like you would have been way premature trying to pass judgement on Butch in 98-99.

I'm not a golden slurper but no way can you pin this on him.

****, this is classic addition by subtraction. Especially while on scholarship reductions.

Good luck son.

The interesting thing is this is Al's type of player. High morals, hard worker, good off field, limited talent, everything Al likes in players, you know like him. Got to wonder what happened. Here is my dose of hopeful thinking. Al has realized his type of players will never get him where he wants to go and are destroying his career and now has decided to switch gears. No more talentless gym rat overachievers. From now on he is going to go for talent, talent and more talent. Starting positions will be determined by who kicks the crap out of everyone on the practice field, not who makes nice with old lady most often. Black shirts will be awarded based on how many back and blue marks you left on other players yesterday not how many reps you did.

Hey, got to dream a little. Malcolm, best of luck kid. You are a fine young man, and will stay Cane family.

Wow. Our 3rd string guard and tackle transferred. Sucks we don't have 3 4/5 star recruits coming in at those positions.

Real talk: Bunche stunk.

His splendor was a creation of our own minds based on message board wishful thinking rather than on-field production.

This problem is repeated yearly this time of year with new recruits/transfers.

Unfortunately/Fortunately for us, everyone is so negative that this year we think everyone sucks. Saves us from being disappointed later.

This is fine. Does it hurt? Yeah, I think so. Depth is good and the guy played. But whatever. He wants to start and is unlikely to do that here. If I were him I'd want to start to. This isnt a big deal and makes sense for the player.

No, sir. It's still Shannon's fault even though Fat Al's glorious recruits can't beat out Shannon's guys. Makes sense. I still think it's Coker's fault.

It **** sure it's big Al's fault. Heard Shannon, and Coker took Al out on a Mike Price trip. Took pictures of Big Al while he was out of it. Then used said photos as blackmail. To force Al into playing RS seniors, and allowing 500 yards a game.
