Malachi Toney recommits to Miami

Sorry if I missed it earlier ...

But why was Magic Mali only a (high) 3-star coming out of high school?

His size?

People weren't sure how he'd transition from QB to WR?

Wasn't affiliated with a high-profile 7-on-7 program?

Considered a lock for the Canes?

He's been an incredible difference-maker at this level since the day he stepped on the field as a 17-year-old true freshman

He dropped to a 3 star reclassifying. Was a blue chipper this year.

So Mali kind of slipped thru the cracks because the recruiting analysts were closely evaluating him because they figured he had another year of high school. That makes some sense

When he decommitted for a minute this thread has some very bad hot takes.....

Hoping to review similar DJ Jacobs hot takes in a couple of years 👇🏽

They ding players for reclassifying. They feel like they havent fully evaluated.

Also MANY on here said they didnt want Toney because he wasnt a true cane and stop recruiting him immediately. :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

kids that committ to miami don't get star upgrades as they ball out in HS.

At Podium, Mario said Fletcher didnt answer 246 of his text messages.. Fletcher said he answered the 247 one and stayed home.. Thank Gawd Mario is built for this..
It’s these kind of stories that doesn’t make feel a way to hear that Miami backed off the Derrick Coopers or Calvin Russells… Mario knows something that we don’t and if a kid is worth it he’ll go to the wire regardless what people think. The kids he’s gone to the very end to land… Jeremiah Smith, John Mateer, Cam Ward, Malachi, Bain and Mark Fletcher. All worth the pursuit… you win some and you lose some.
