Been rewatching a bit here and there and I keep coming away with the same three thoughts I have the entire season:

1. We shoulda won by a lot more

2. That’s scary good because we can still play better

3. That’s scary bad because we are our own worst enemy at times…still

Therein lie a couple of big keys to this upcoming game...

Take advantage of opportunities (and don't squander them like we did vs Ole Miss and others)

Do not beat ourselves. Clean game. No dumb penalties. Win the turnover battle.

I didn't say Dawson doesnt watch NFL tape. I said I wish he would use Mali like the rams use Puka and Dolphins used Tyreek. Both of those coaches are creative in how they get those players in space and hide them in different formations when entire defensive gameplay is to stop those players. I think there is another level to use Mali in the run game without putting him in wildcat.

I have no problem with Dawson gameplay but this is the natty and we should add a couple wrinkles not previously on film to get that veteran defense thinking more than reacting.

I think everyone telling us Indiana is unbeatable and we have no chance is what’s going to propel us here

Ole Miss is a typical undisciplined SEC team and it got us out of sorts

Indiana and its machine like efficiency is EXACTLY what we need in my opinion. It’s going to raise our level of play

I got you. How you worded it was weird to me but no one would argue with what you’re saying

Teams like OSU all they cared about was taking Toney away. That’s what they do to teams. So we got creative in how we used Toney especially blocking and letting others do work

Also if Toney sees Beck he throws him a TD that Carson could have done cartwheels to the end zone

Dawson adjusted

Teams have adjusted to Dawsons adjustments

So yeah gotta punch back here because we know Indiana is an elite coached team

I trust Dawson to add some stuff to the bag. I would like Dawson to use a screen and go. I feel Indiana bite down hard on wr screen. I think Indiana defense there for the picking.

I like the Rams and Dolphins analogy you used but I am biased in I’ve always been pounding the table pointing to how someone like Kyle Shanahan gets super creative in tight formations. Also in the run game. I don’t expect Dawson to be him but the way our team is built you also don’t always need space and pace to be “creative”

We used some diabolical wrinkles against OSU that punished them for 6-7 yard pops

Doesn’t look **** in the box score but really beat them up

if he watches NFL the one thing I would like him to try is the play I saw this weekend where another player like a WR (not toney) throws a pass. that will definitely catch them off guard.

If you’re talking Jennings from SF I literally just talked about Shanahan in my last post

I don’t expect that level of stuff but it’s sort of a clinic on how they use tight formations to get more from less

Saw some stuff from Lofton and Toney (it’s why I predicted the Marion TD last week) that I could see setting some stuff up

I think most of the complaints I’ve seen about Dawsons trick plays is more about the timing than the actual play call

I’ve defended Dawson a bit this year but I am on board with sometimes it just feels “off” when we do things

Thought he called a really good game against OSU so hope that’s the guy we get

Toney had a run lane to the end zone but someone on the right side completely missed a block. I don’t remember who it was. But if everyone does their job, that was 6 pts. I don’t know about taking something from the playbook because players failed to execute.

Agreed. Truth is every week we play these teams in the playoffs it’s so glaring how far behind we are at the skill spots

We’ve got an undersized kid that should be in high school and a running back that isn’t going to wow anyone at their pro day

Yet here we are

Thought it was Brock who missed the tackle, but I could be wrong.
 
It’s a good thing all this happened vs Ole Miss, we know **** well it won’t happen again. And if there was a team to **** up vs it was Ole Miss. and O Conner wil be targeted he better not hold and give us a costly PI
