Make Barkate compete for a stating job

I dont care that Barkate went for over 1k at Duke last year. I worry that he will be the security blanket for Mensah. I think Vaughn, Moore and Jacobs are all better and more dynamic. Ideally, my WR starters are Mali, Vaughn, Moore as starters and Jacobs in 4 wide sets. I will never hope for an injury to any player, especially a Cane, but I think it would be better for the team if Barkate gets real comfy on the bench.

Yeah the Bucs brought in an old Gronk with Brady, whom Brady was comfortable with, when they had studs like Godwin and Evans.

Certainly backfired…. 🙄

If defenses have to split their focus between Barkate and Toney, that only helps Mensah, Toney and hopefully Moore.

No one other than Toney and Barkate are proven commodities. Look what happened with Trader who was anointed preseason last year and when we lost Daniel’s for a few weeks, Toney was getting mugged.

You want your QB comfortable with a WR, like Ward and Restrepo.
Having Toney makes us dangerous.

If Moore takes the next step, we’re going to have the best receiving corp we’ve had in decades.

Exactly. Guys get all excited about players' potential "on paper." But a guy being highly-ranked and/or prototype size/speed doesn't mean **** if he doesn't produce. Trader's a perfect example. Very highly-touted out of H.S. but when he had chances, he just couldn't produce in a Canes uniform.

Barkate has shown he can produce at a high level. Not quite Toney-level, but at a high level nonetheless. It doesn't mean he should be "given" a starting spot. But its seems pretty likely he will play a lot.

I will just put it like this. I think Moore has NFL WR2 upside. Even if Barkate is the reincarnation of a slightly taller Restrepo, I think it is possible to likely that we are sacrificing some explosion potential for timing and familiarity. I would bet whatever you want Vaughn runs a better forty time than Barkate. Same with Moore. It seems most people disagree. Is what it is.
better 40 time>>> actually producing consistently at every level

All the reasons that Barkate WILL start barring injury. My question is should Barkate start, my hypothesis is Barkate should not start.
That isn't a hypothesis that's an assertion. And a factless one. And who said Bartake didn't need to com pete for a starting job.

Better put than I could have. Thank you. It just seems like Barkate is an in-stone starter. And, given the instant chemistry, maybe that is for the best. I truly would like an open competition more than anything. Thank you for the better rephrase,
Who said it wasn't an open competition other than you?

That's actually the way some people think. Sort of like thinking a 6'2 stocky short-armed DE can't be as good as a 6'5 guy.

Performance is what counts.

“I don’t care that he produced at an all acc level or has great chemistry with our qb” lol what??

And what are you measuring dynamic by? And moore flashes but why are people saying he’s a starter? Don’t we think if they thought that he would have played way more when our wrs besides mali struggled?

Making these statements before a game or practice happens is crazy lmao

Fck yeah OP!!!
Why stop there?
Mensah too. I don’t care how many yards he threw for. Come earn it.

I might be all the way on the short bus here and in need of a helmet to porst. That said, how convinced are you that Barkate is better than Moore
That’s what spring and fall practice are designed to determine. Iron sharpens iron so the more iron the better
