How does this man do it? What is his secret? Has there ever been a college coach that’s failed forward more the Applewhite?

Mediocre offenses at texas
Fired from Alabama
Mediocre offenses at Houston as OC
Fired as HC at Houston

All this fail, yet somehow this man keeps getting jobs and he’s now the leading OC candidate at Miami, after being fired last week??? It’s not going to work, because he’s not that good at anything except failing forward.

C’mon, Manny...we deserve better...the players deserve a cutting edge OC you promised. Applewhite ain’t it!

The apple falls forward to work in mysterious ways.

I’ve followed Applewhite since he was QB at Texas and somehow this guy keeps getting jobs despite either failing or being mediocre. Miami can do better than this.

Applewhite is not a cutting edge OC. I know we all were tired of Richt, so anything looks good, but Applewhitw ain’t it.

under Herman, he had a **** good offense

he would be the best offensive coordinator UM has had in the last decade

You saying mediocre offenses at Texas, you know he only called plays in a few games in 2012 right? Bryan Harsin who was the other co oc was the primary play caller in 2011 and 2012 for Texas not applewhite before he left to become Boise state head coach near the end of the season. He called plays in 2013 but he had a qb injured that derailed that season in which he did Call plays.

His offenses were not mediocre at houston
He learned a new scheme under Herman and it was successful
-They were top 5 in the country in 3rd down conversions in 2015
- 6-0 vs ranked competition when he was the oc under herman those 2 years
- 3-0 vs top 10 opponents from power 5 schools (put up 38 vs #9 fsu, 33 up vs#3 Oklahoma and 36 up vs #5 Louisville).
-#20 in offense in 2015, 13-1 overall record
-#40 offense in 2016 , 9-4 overall record

Mediocre offense at Houston??? As OC in 2015 his mediocre offense lowest output was 17 once and 24 points. The 24 points was against a ranked temple team with a very good D. The other 12 games that year they put up beteeen 33-59 points. They beat 4 ranked teams including then number 9 fla st. You want to say as a HC was not great fine. But the 2 years he actually called plays he was very good and so was their offense.

Jason Garrett is still HC of the Cowboys, so there is a slight precedence in the state of Texas. Some people are just that lucky, or able to fool a dummy.

That’s a low bar. But no, he’s not a better OC than Jedd Fisch

Alls Im saying is Manny can’t go to a press conference talking about hiring an OC that’s cutting edge and aggressive on O, and then trot out Major Applewhite. I can’t be the only person seeing that disconnect.

Applewhite isn't my first choice either and I believe their are others who are better.
But you also need to realize that this is Manny's staff not yours, and if he fails he will hold himself accountable like he said.
For now just enjoy the show or watch another team.

What’s not cutting edge about the way he called plays for Houston in 2015?
