On paper we have enough depth but fast forward to next year and if williams is named the starter we could be Nebraska as it is likely that Weldon and Perry will transfer. These kids do not want to sit and wait if another opportunity will open up.

Maybe we can do what Saban did this year and not name a starter until it’s too late for them to transfer.

You can pretty much say the same thing about every big time program. QB depth is an issue all over college football, not just at the U.

The days of guys waiting their turn at that position appear to be over.

Also these arguments always assume guys CANT transfer to Miami.... there are top guys looking to make a move every year, as you said guys don't wait their turn so they look for the next best situation. I can think of 3-4 former top recruits who transferred this year. If we really need a QB, we will have a depth chart next year of nothing but unproven talent, and CMR coaching, pretty sure we would look appealing to a transfer candidate.

So how is it we know they don't want to sit and will definitely transfer? They're pretty much sitting right now and nobody's transferred yet.

Exactly.

Quick somebody sign Preston Dewey for emergency purposes so we can have a third string quarterback just in case out third string quarterback transfers next year!

You guys say take one every year. Ok, I agree. So last 2 years we've signed 3, so even without taking one this year we still average 1 per year. What's the problem? It's game week, take your Xanax and enjoy the show fellas. Go Canes!!!

Nail biters gonna nail bite.

But there's good news, there is help available! For those who want it... The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Nice nail biting list. I can't decide whether "Talk to therapist" or "Get a manicure" would be the more appropriate solution for the worriers around here.

That’s when a staff needs to find a guy they know will be a project, but has the upside to play down the line. In a year like this you take a chance on a diamond in the rough, because you know he won’t see the field for 2-3 years anyway. There are still QBs out there that would take a backup job at UM over a smaller school where they can start early. They just need to be found. Beats the **** out of taking none then having 1 or 2 transfer, which could very well happen. We have the scholarship numbers to take a chance on a project. Even if we didn’t we would when a guy bolts.

Does spencer whipple have any eligibilty left?

Jimmy Johnson always wanted to sign (2) QB's every year , if they don't want to compete and get a tremendous free education go somewhere else.

"you either play for us or you get beat by us" always moving forward aggressively.

GOCANES

Jimmy Johnson was not limited to 85 total scholarships. Just throwing a scholarship at some mediocre QB recruit for depth purposes isn't an option these days.

3 QBs next year is not enough.

To compete for championships annually, you have to manage the roster very well at each position every year.

85 scholarships is not a lot.

We need to grab a quality QB this cycle.

And there are plenty out there - it's the younger Richt's job to find one.
