Main Concern

My main concern for this week isn't matchup related. We could kill these boys on any neutral field. The main concern I have right now is this will be the first time Cam Ward has ever had the OC communicating directly into his ear instead of using signs. So for the first time he has to listen and communicate at the same time in the Swamp. GT's QB was having trouble at a neutral field in Ireland. The Swamp will be a whole different beast and I hope our coaching staff has backup plans with signals to keep things moving if he can't hear.

STILL NOT ENOUGH FOR ME TO DOUBT THE OUTCOME. Canes roll

Your concern is absolutely valid but to make you, and lets be honest, make myself feel better as well, that was a neutral field in Ireland, but it was predominantly Semenhole fans, so not truly neutral.......

In one of the camp videos, they showed us pumping in crowd noise (which I know isn't the same thing), however I do think they're preparing for this.

Cam has also said that Dawson has given him the freedom to work in concepts and wrinkles he thinks will work into the offense. Which I feel like is beneficial for Cam, just in case he needs to check in/out of anything presnap

From the latest D$ read here: "On preparing for the atmosphere: The noise level itself, you’ve got to simulate that in practice. Everything's got to work. This year, we have the player-to-coach communication devices. But if you watch games this week, you’ll see a lot of guys squeezing their helmets trying to get clear communication. It can't be counted on.

So what happens next? Everything else has to kick in- your wristbands, your signals, your other methods of communication. That's been a part of our process, which we've worked really, really hard to make airtight in every regard. And then you have to simulate the noise itself. It’s a loud place, they do a great job with game-day atmosphere."

So I think they're well aware and have it covered with contingencies. I may not even bother with the audio for this first game and just avoid the potential problem entirely.

the swamp is the only reason some of you are sweating a 5-7 team that lost its only NFL draftee, and didn't make any significant portal pickups????? CANES ROLLLLLLL...
It's not a bad reason. Bad UF teams have beaten some pretty good teams early in the season there. If this game is later in the season when their spirits are broken, no sweat. But the Swamp in week one is a challenge and probably keeps this game closer than it should be

I get it... I'd much prefer a neutral site for week 1, but I just can't wrap my head around anyone on their team that scares me or any matchup that scares me... our top players would literally have to sh*t the bed..

Is there a rule against using signs? I would imagine they have the ability to fall back to using signs of the helmet comms thing isn't going well.

Agreed. Not worried about the matchups at all.

My worries:

One, everyone thinks this is a BAD Florida team based on its schedule vs the talent they bring to the table. You can argue any team ranked 15th to 25th at the start of the season would finish a .500 team with this schedule. This is still an SEC team.

Two, Napier is coaching for his life AND has had all off season to come up with very new schemes that will be focused on our DBs

Three, the last decade +

With that said - Lets Go Canes !!!!!!!

They will for sure pull out all the stops and throw in every new wrinkle they can to try to right the ship there. Crowd will be in full force.

But this team will eat them for breakfast and get better under the pressure instead of buckling.

Canes roll by at least 2 scores.

A team is always better than whatever cis thinks lol
True, but we should still win. Lose and it might get ugly on here.

all the national beat writers are correct in the sense that the winner of this game can quiet the doubters and pick up a marquee victory on their résumé, but the loser is absolutely in trouble (even if it means more heat in the short-term for a Billy loss than a Mario loss).
