Mack Brown and Mocking The U

All it does is show that North Carolina hates us with a passion, and treats this game like it's their super bowl every year. Meanwhile we just barely dislike them and treat this game like any other every year.

And that's why they win. They have the mental edge. It's kind of sad they're obsessing over us so much, especially considering we're not rivals, and we've been terrible over the last several years. But it doesn't matter, because they use it as motivation to win.
theyre better coached than we are.

As long as the dunce in the weird outfit with the bizarre mask continues to show up we should be mocked continuously.

Huh? Uh, no. We never consider Miami anything other than another conference foe but one to be respected. Our rivals are Duke and NC State. Then Virginia and Virginia. We consider South Carolina, a nonAcc school, more of a rival than Miami. Go on our forum and you don't see any hatred or rivalry talk about Miami. We would rather beat Duke than Miami so your being considered our "Superbowl" is utter nonsense unless the matchup is significant for standing.

This is utter nonsense. We don't hate Miami nor see the game as our superbowl. Just go to our boards. You rarely see any mention of Miami except being an opponent you should respect. We save our hatred for Duke and NC State.

During your dominant years, of course we saw you as the team to beat. Much like teams have historically viewed our basketball program. Certainly you want to beat a top team but to say teams view a bb game against us like a National Championship would be equally as idiotic as your statement.

During the Acc Coastal division years, many years we thought we had to beat Miami to get to the conference championship. Logically, we would add special significance to that game. Remember Florida State and Clemson were in the other division so who else worth a **** would we have to go through? But that is a reason anyone with a modicum of common sense would understand.

For you to intimate there's some inexplicable unnatural desire UNC has to beat Miami seems to border on being an excuse ....ie they beat us because they want it more than we do because we're their superbowl....good grief. 🙄

Canes fans - please - at this point the only team we’re the Super Bowl for is FIU. We’re not that good and haven’t been for the most part for a long time.

This talk about us being the Super Bowl for any ACC team looks ridiculous at this point. We’re a big game for some. That’s the best I can spin it.

The refs probably don’t even know what they are doing when they do the upside down U. That is about how clueless ACC refs are.

It's not a rivalry, but he's not totally wrong. Mack prioritized beating Miami from the moment he got back in Chapel Hill because he correctly identified it as the most "crossroads" game on the schedule as a coastal division foe. You beat miami consistently and you've got a direct path to ACCCG most years and reap some recruiting victories; if you lose to Miami consistently then you're fueling the fire on a potential sleeping giant. Mack is no dummy. He's not interested in being second fiddle to a florida school he cant ever beat again.

And I’m not saying this because we lost the game. This is clearly TAUNTING. Brown encourages MOCKING THE OTHER TEAM and has let the upside down U be displayed by his players throughout his tenure. Why do the REFS continue to allow it but will flag a player who barely celebrates in the end zone? Isn’t this how the “Miami Rule” for TAUNTING came into being?? All of a sudden now it’s OK???

Several weeks ago the refs flagged a player for this while playing against the Texas Longhorns (can’t remember the team). Mack Brown is a disrespectful *****.

You guys don't get it. You are looking at it completely wrong:

Ref:" Warning, you guys are taunting Miami with that upside down "U," stop it!
North Carolina player: What upside down "U?" That's a right-side up "n."
Ref: "My bad, nevermind"

🤣🤣🤣
