Chip Kelly inherited a Nike cash fueled juggernaut at Oregon. At Philly where he inherited a team that needed a little rebuilding like Miami does, he has been a straight up tool. Would rather have Brian Kelly than Chip Kelly, but guess what? Ain't neither one of dem ****** going to Miami.

He inherited a very good team from Bellotti. 10-2, 11-1.

Chip took over and went 10-3, 12-1, 12-2. As you can see, as his recruits were feeding in, he started regressing, with his mighty offense losing two games.

Chip does well in short bursts. He was like The Pirate who inherited a great team. Lots of offense, but can't sustain.

****es people off. Sphincter-Syndrome.

I can see zero evidence he's ever built anything UP. He's incrementally changed the offenses, but he's been handed great tools to work with - and when he doesn't have that - like at the Eagles - he's out of his league.

Archer, what the **** are you doing? Are you on drugs? Do you need help man? We're here for you.

What's the matter?

Everyone is nitpicking coaches!

Your goober-smoocher getting discussed?

What coaches are saban caliber?

Butch Davis back at Miami for 5-7 years will make Saban an afterthought wrapped in an asterisk hidden within an *******.

I love butch but hes no a great game day coach.

Was Clappy a great game day corch? He won 24 straight and a NC. (With Butch Davis' team)

I would say Coker is/was a better gameday coach than Butch.

This is in no way an endorsement of Coker's coaching ability...I just clearly remember how bad Butch was in that regard.

If you Butch guys get your way...pray we get 2 bad *** coordinators or else we'll be looking for another coach again before you know it. At Butch's age he's not going to want to put up with bull**** when the natives get restless after he loses 3 or 4 games in the his 3rd season.

I'm sorry..but I'm just nowhere near as high on Butch as many of you are. I think there's a ton of selective amnesia wrapped in nostalgia which is permeating throughout this board. He's got a great eye for spotting underrated talent and he's a good recruiter....but he leaves A LOT to be desired in other facets. My hope is he takes a cheap salary which affords us top notch coordinators.

Meanwhile...I'm still praying to God every day that Chip falls into our lap. A man can dream.

If 4 million is the ceiling, Chip won't be in the discussion for long....

Other schools would clearly pay more for him....

That's a real selling point.

After today's lunch I believe in Blake James, and I was very impressed by Korn Ferry. Some observations from the lunch.

1. We are going to try and hire a coach the caliber of Saban and Meyer
2. Butch has the support of the majority of the individuals attending the lunch and big money BOT members.
3. Mario I believe has zero chance.
4. Up and coming coaches and assistants from other schools and the NFL have no chance.
5. New coach does not have to keep anyone from the current staff.
6. There has been tons of interest from big time coaches including some not on the radar.
7. The BOT members such as Stuart Miller who is a great guy is committed to making this program into an elite program and think with the right coach can happen in two to three years.
8. Lots of rumors out there and what has been written etc is complete BS.
9. I am really excited and believe that if we don't hire the likes of a Chip Kelly etc Butch will get the job.
10. I want Butch and lots of people there who contribute a ton of money to the program made it clear that they want Butch.

WE UP!
Good. Several of the names mentioned here would be okay with me, although I'm not sold on Strong. I just do NOT want Mario. Not enough experience.

Washington finished 2000 #3 in all final rankings. We are 1991 co national champs with them. They were a big power house

Thread you must be a really guy, because butch had nothing to work with when he arrived and barely had ships.

1996/1999 Canes lost to ECU, look at the rosters.

2000 Canes lost to Washington, look at the rosters.

So 2000 Washington was more talented than 2000 Miami?

My dude sometimes teams lose to less talented teams. It happens every Saturday and Sunday.

There's never been a coach that won EVERY single game against a team that was less talented.

Use some logic boss.....Jesus

Yep. Jimmy Johnson's 1986 team in the Fiesta Bowl was one of Miami's best and we lost to.....Penn St....yahoo!

If I recall the team had other QBs besides Vinny....He was atrocious in the game to say the least....

What are you talking about? Those two seasons under Bellotti were in 2000 and 2001. Bellotti's last 4 seasons in Eugene he won 10, 7, 9 and 10 respectively. His last conference title was in 2001. So Bellotti left a good program. But Kelly won 3 conference titles. Not sure why you left out his 4th season where he finished 12-1 and mauled a very good K State team in the Fiesta Bowl.

That's not a good argument, Arch. Butch was fired from the NFL and you want him hired. Butch has been my top pick because Kelly is a pipe dream. If you have a shot with Chip Kelly, you don't hesitate.

Butch was fired, but he didn't have all Browns fans calling for his head. Chip has thoroughly ****ed off all Philadelphia fans living and dead, even those Eagles fans yet unborn.

Something is wrong there. Not just an ongoing coaching revolving door as is quite common in the NFL.

lmao what's an "actual" college coaching history? you argument is so f*cking weak. chip had few losses and the teams he (not Bellotti) recruited went on to almost win a NC. so you have no point.

The teams that Butch built actually went on to win a NC.

No need for the word "almost" when you bring Butch Davis into the equation.

Yeah, Butch is not a h-o-m-o for starters. And Butch isn't a weird, fat, Yankee prick.

You got me on that.
