Luke is begging......

While I'll agree Luther does plenty of positive things to affect the community you have to understand what drives him. At his core everything he does good or bad is all about the pursuit of staying in people's mouths, staying what he percieved as relevant. Certain ways he's greatly misunderstood. But in his eyes he sees all of this like the godfather. He's racking up his favors till he needs them. There is nothing about him we want too closely tied in with um again though. He's a liability we just can't afford around the kids or the program. I'm sorry but I can't explain that one any further. For all the positive he's able to do he can & will always do one thing to swipe it all away if given the chance.
I don't even know him. I've only been in South Florida for 11 years

That's fine. At the end of the day it's about the kids and the community. What he gets personally doesn't matter to me. That work with kids is just too **** hard to discount. We don't have enough African American men making a difference.

I love sports. I love college football. Guys like Nick Saban get all the praises for the 2-3 years coaching a handful of young men while the real work is done at much younger age for a much longer period of time and usually with little money or recognition.

Really?

First of all, I was making a general statement. I don't know you so how could I pass any judgment about who's lives you have impacted?

Secondly, you don't know me, but I'll tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Iowa. The only African American in my school until high school so you can only imagine what I had to deal with growing up. I learned how to navigate society at a young age.

I graduated from college with a degree in Computer Science while playing D-1 baseball. I liived in New Jersey for over 20 years where I worked in NYC for a financial company doing IT. I got a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from NYU. I have a son in college studying Computer Engineering as well.

So, if your kids are doing better than me, then congratulations!!!
how many ancient arrowheads do you have?

What he's done with Kids is dwarfed by many other Black American men in Dade throughout the yrs....Stop it......11yrs in South fl???....the way you've made it sound, you'd have thought you were from there. My advice, listen to people who grew up in the 305....and who actually know Luke and his History before responding.

Anyone with a memory or the ability to detect scumbag hates him

It ain't a competition. No one has to l8ve up to what someone else has done. He's doing something.

I've lived in a lot of places probably at lot longer than you. There isn't much difference in the problems in African American communities. In fact, the biggest thing missing are the men.

So, I'm not going to be jumping on someone who is making a positive difference.

I don't need to live here 30 years to see it. I've seen plenty. I've also listened to people who have lived here thst long and longer.

He may rub you the wrong way and you can question motives, but I look at the results.

I highly doubt you've lived in alot more places than me...I'm 62yrs old....and grew up in S. Fl.....You look at results??....What results??....Even Duke Johnson got rid of Luke's wife who was his agent. You don't need to live in Miami for 30yrs to see it??....Lol....your 11yrs is meaningless in the Grand Scheme of things.

Well, we close. Lol
11 years meaningless? Come on man you just sound petty.

Not petty.....11yrs in Miami is really nothing in reference to what we're talking about. @Brooklyndee grew up in Miami, in the same projects as a plethora of UM Greats. And went on to play at UM and start. I've known him 27yrs, and my cousin was one of his coaches at UM. Alot of people on this board have been in Miami since forever.

That's not what I'm saying. But I'm not gonna attempt to discourage you from what you feel. Absolutely we need more strong black POSITIVE influences. If you feel he's one than more power to you. Always good to look at the whole picture

He’s exactly what’s wrong… he’s an undereducated moron with an ax to grind with everyone. He’s a terrible leader and mentor. I don’t give a **** about him, but don’t put that fool on a pedestal

When you look at positive/negative it's all about perspective. Publicly Luke appears to be negative.

What are the outcomes of the kids he's dealt with? Are they positive or negative and I don’t mean financially or anything to do with sports. Did he make their life better? I think how he has a 3.0 GPA requirement for his athletes above the 2.3 minimum is certainly one example.

What does my time here in SF have to do with anything? If Luke were in prison, and just started coaching and helping kids in the 11 years that I've been here then what's the difference?

I don't care if he had just done it last year. He's doing something.

Are you just trying to infer that he's not helping kids? He's just using them to get a benefit? Or you just think someone else should be in the spotlight that he's getting?

I'm not putting the man on a pedestal. I'm not a fan of his music or his personality. Never was. The bottom line is this. Is he good for the kids or bad for them? Is he helping them or hurting them?

You're right, Luke's only the first person in the Country that used to load kids up in a van and take them to different Colleges to get exposure, while HS coaches wanted you to kiss their asses just to get your tape out...horrible person LOL.
