Sony Michel (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) and Joseph Yearby (Miami/Miami Central) are actually very similar in both style and talent, which is why they are so close in the ESPN 300 rankings. Michel gets the edge with slightly more size and lower-body power, but has also had more of a history of being dinged up, which is a bit concerning.

The reason why these two are so similar is because they look very much alike in how they run the ball — low to the ground with sudden lateral agility and explosive second gears once they get to the second level.

Dalvin Cook (Miami/Miami Central) is a different type of guy, though. The more we study him, the higher ceiling we believe he has. He reminds us of last year’s Dontre Wilson, now at Ohio State. We make this comparison because Cook is such a dynamic athlete that he could easily be recruited as a receiver or corner, which is what makes him so attractive. This gives coaches options with Cook. He possesses just about every desirable trait you look for in a running back, including ball skills.

As to who makes the biggest impact, that is impossible to determine at this point. So much of that answer is dependent upon who makes the right choices in school, scheme and taking advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself. I do honestly feel all three are capable of making an impact, and early. Dare I say we like Yearby more than Duke Johnson coming out? Yes, we do.

Whoa................... Duke is better then Yearby coming out and it isn't that close

Luginblam is so pathetic

Yearby and Michel are nothing alike PERIOD.

"Dare I say we like Yearby over Duke" yeah whatever Duke definitely was winning w/ another 5 star caliber running back on the team w/ him in high school. smh

ESPN recruiting is weak af. The only thing they have is a huge platform and the worldwide viewing on recruiting but if Rivals or 247 had that same platform they would blow those sorry *** analyst away

Hey guys, I'm new to the sight...enjoy reading up on all the free Canes news...lol..anyway, he might say that about Yearby because if u think about what if it was just him and not Cook??? Remember, as a sophomore he rushed for over 2000 yards with out splitting carries...the last two years, he split carries, n still rushing for over 1500 yards....

Yearby may not have as much physical talent as Cook, but he definitely has the best vision of the 3, and it's not even close. Quick feet, solid size and great vision?

Yeah, I like that kind of RB.

So they suk because they think JY is better than DJ? I hope he is and there right thats good for us if he is.

--SMH---We are a fun fanbase, I tell ya

If they say Sony is better than JY -- we b** and moan and say they're biased against UM

If they say Cook is better than JY OR Duke -- we b** and moan and say they're biased against UM

They say that Yearby is better than Duke coming out and what happens? --we b** and moan and say they're biased against UM and say that dont know anything ... whew

I'm just glad we have a **** good RB that WANTS to come to UM... there -- im done

The most encouraging thing about Yearby this year is his speed.

Last year, he didn't make enough explosive plays for a 180-pound back of his caliber. Now he's averaging three more yards per carry (6 ypc to 9 ypc) and breaking big runs against teams like Booker T.

What do you attribute that to? Track?

He's got that Portis wiggle, along with that sneaky Portis speed. I'm telling you this boy could be a star.

My obligatory aside on Cook -- he's making a mistake playing RB. Dude could be an elite corner. Less wear and tear. Longer career. More money.

Glad to have Yearby as a cane. This guy deserves a lot more credit than he actually gets on these threads. The thing that separates him is he's all about the U and is actually committed to us unlike the others discussed. We should be excited about the comparison even if it's not accurate. Comparing Yearby to Duke make me wish he was here already.

No idea. The Central OL is a machine with another year of experience, so that is part of the reason his YPC has improved. But Yearby sure seems to have a little more juice this year, at least to my eyes.

Just curious but speed wise, who is faster out of cook and sony, from many profiles they seem neck and neck.

That's very nice.

But after seeing what happened to Duke I think it's pretty clear we need a big back to split reps with guys like him and Yearby.

If Yearby is better than Duke was at this time, we have one **** of a RB coming our way. I do actually prefer Yearby of the three, but I do want a big bruiser to tag team with him. Need to punish D so Duke, Yearby, Powell, et al can rip their hearts out without taking such a beating.

When Yearby carries his team to a state title like Duke did then holla at me. Yearby is not even close to as good as Duke was
