Really don't like Patke. I know you partially disagree. But I think he's terrible and don't give him much credit for Finley or Gil. JMHO.

That said, all I care about is finding a quality DC and Manny not being too cute by trying to be both DC and HC. He'll probably need 2021 to realize it's impossible. But I hope he moves faster than that.

At this point, I don’t think it matters if Baker is successful or not at LSU. He’s going as the LB coach not the DC. It could be argued that if he’s successful as a LB coach, the DC job was probably to big for him.

Had I known this earlier I would have taken the wife out to dinner and had lots of over priced bourbon. Seeing this now, I saved at least $400. Manny now has the chance to bring in a "highly respected" DC that can also recruit. Who ?. Maybe Winston Moss?

This is an excellent point. It’s true in any profession that sometimes an employee is just not suited for a particular position. Doesn’t mean they’re incompetent or a dumbass. It just means they may be better suited for something else.
 
I think the posters who repeated over and over again that "Baker ain't going anywhere" need to pay a stiffer penalty than just "oops, I guess I'll eat crow." Instead of getting "banned" can they get "dunced" and tagged with a little dunce cap symbol on their posts so that other posters will know not to pay attention to anything they say?

Not OUR problem. He’s gone. Sometime the fit doesn’t work for one team or role (DC/LB Coach vs. just LB Coach). But he clearly wasn’t a good fit for us. We can now move on with $700K more in our pockets and a clean break (on top of Manny actually looking better with how this move played out both with other coaches and with fans). See ya Blake.

Best news I've heard all week. No ill will towards the man, but he is just not our answer at DC.

So now the spotlight turns to Manny. What are you going to do now, big fella? Do you hire an actual DC from the outside so you can focus on HC duties? (ding! ding! ding!) Or do you promote TRob or Jess to DC? (I can live with this) Or do you double-down in your thinking that you yourself can return the Defense to glory while also serving the all-encompassing role of HC at Miami? (wrong!)

Make the right call, Manny. Don't be a dumbass.

This right here. I don’t think baker was a bad coach. I don’t even necessarily think it was a fit issue per se. he was and still is a highly regarded young coach in CFB. As for as us, I’ve been on record saying he should’ve been gone off UNC alone..now it’s on manny to get this **** right
