And not firing Baker was plain good business. Not only did it turn out to be a financially savvy move and save the school hundreds of thousands of dollars, but other coaches take notice that Diaz does right by his people and tries to give them a chance to save face if things go bad.

On a side note, I did say there was no defending the move to keep Baker from a professional standpoint after UM "announced" its new defensive staff a couple weeks back. Obviously things were still in flight and I'm very happy to eat some crow right now

I defend manny more than most but I’ll also rip him when it’s called for. The positive is he realizes pretty fast when he’s messed up. Regardless this is sink or swim time.

I feel like Manny realized it was sink or swim time when he got the job, I also feel like he would be given time to succeed as long as he made necessary adjustments to improve and found a way to compete very quickly in today's college football.

Honestly he's done all of the above, and now I'd be willing to bet that he just bought himself at least another season or two.

No AD out there can justify firing a guy that took a program like ours, in the shape it was in, and at least got us into the conversation with top 10 programs. This season we have no option but to play for the ACC title and not look like we don't belong, otherwise we have taken a step back...and of course the next season we Damned sure better be a true contender.

TV coverage should have two CFB seasons, off-season and in-season. I know we’d be champions every off-season, and we can watch that unfold blow-by-blow in slo-mo. I’d be happy to settle for that in lieu of the other that Manny will NEVER get us to at this rate.
