I don’t see the commitment to winning from this admin.

It’s telling that Barry Jackson at the Herald wrote an article a few days ago explaining why Miami will never be “back.”

We know that the Herald prints whatever UM wants. It’s almost as if our admin have thrown in the towel, and they are trying to lower fan expectations.

Be happy if we can compete for the coastal. That’s what this program is, and that’s what this program will be for the foreseeable future.

We are an above-average Coastal team, and that’s how it will stay until we get a new BOT, president, athletic director, etc.

The evidence is clear. Miami pays peanuts for coaches and support staff.

We hired a first time head coach, a DC from Louisiana Tech, and a S&C coach with two years of experience at Temple.

Some may want to put a positive spin on it, but to me, it looks like Miami is bargain-hunting as usual.

We won’t play the bag game. We won’t pay for the best coaches. We won’t pay fir the best support staff.

Alabama and Clemson are so far ahead of us right now, it’s laughably sad. These are professional organizations with professional recruiting staffs, top-of-the-line coaches and facilities, elite S&C and nutrition staff, etc.

Miami is like the flea market, mom and pop version of this.

We’ll never be a major player in college football as long as the current band of dopes are in charge.

So if you want to be a fan, be a fan. But lower your expectations. This program is not what it was in the past, and it’s not doing what it would need to do to move in that direction.

Be happy with coastal championships every few years. That’s Miami.

Billy Corbin on WQAM also said Miami will never be back. Forever is a long time but if anyone thinks they are capable of having runs like the 80s and 2000s it’s probably doubtful. They could make the playoffs with the right staff and recruiting but they need to stop with the incompetence from top to bottom.

Stop lying! That article said nothing about “never being able to get back to competing for championships”. All it said was it’s tougher now and you have to work harder. That’s it! So stop with the BS lies. We brought in back to back top 10 classes. This year sucks but with a competent staff and an offensive that not in the Middle Ages we win the coastal running away consistently and then guess what, top ten classes start falling in our laps again like they have the last 18 years for the most part.

Got a link for that article?
The article never said that 1mg. All it said is that’s tougher now to win but not an excuse and nothing that should keep us from succeeding with the right staff and of course an offense that’s not in the Middle Ages. OP who started this thread is a liar and part of the sky is falling fan base. Dude just trying to spread his BS negativity.

The sentiment of your perspective is true, has been true for sometime, and most people know it deep down. It is hard to admit because many Canes fans entire identity as humans revolves around a blurry caricature of the 1980s (and to a lesser extent 2001). When they die out, the program will be exactly what it is and all that will be left is some dusty 30 for 30 DVD in a box under a urine-stained mattress in a room with a Alabama poster on the wall in Liberty City. The wheezing death rattle of the last 15 years is simply the last breath of a once proud consumptive beast...it will stir every now and then and the plebeian-mob will cheer as their creature-king looks to be rising from his fetid state, but the incompetency of his medical staff will cause him to quickly fall and stumble back to his tattered pustule-absorbing blankets, gasping incoherently about swagga or keeping the crib clean or some other inanity.

“It’s tougher” is a nice way of letting us down easy.

“It’ll be tough for me to make it to your party” doesn’t mean it will literally be tough, it’s a nice way of telling you that I’m not going to show.

Anyway, consider actions, not words. The admin is doing nothing to make this a top-tier program. Nothing. Not coaching hires, not support staff, nothing. They are managing this team like it’s Duke. And you’re crazy if you don’t think that will show up on the field.

Have the last 15 years taught you nothing? We are what we are.

Take our S&C hire, for example. Our players look NOTHING like Alabama’s....our players are either skinny as a ****pole (pope, perry, etc), or they are sloppy fat (dallas, donaldson, etc)

Alabama LOOKS more athletic, and they of course play more athletic.

I bet you dollars to donuts that we come out next year and get pushed around, just like every other year.

Oh, and we didn’t have top 10 classes two years in a row. That is false.

This is 1000% spot on. I keep hearing Miami has money - well if they do - they don’t give two ****s about the football program.

Do all of yourselves a favor and quit caring so much - cause they don’t. I’ve had to come to that reality myself.

Again more uninformed BS by you! Really, our admin has made massive gains in facilities. Is will to pay more for a head coach then ever before and has said OC pay amount is not an issue! As a matter of fact this admin has never been more committed to football ever! We were never this committed during Foote and the trolls reign. Those are facts dummy! And ok we were only a couple of % points from top 10 in 2017. So take our #8 in 2018 plus #12 in 2017 and that avarges top ten. Your flat out wrong In Everything you said and clearly are just spewing your own bull$hit agenda. Kick rocks poser!

OP is correct. This isn’t 1991 anymore. We aren’t playing the same game as the 5-10 teams that contend every year. We can still win our division and challenge for a conference sometimes, but we aren’t an upper echelon team right now and we aren’t even close

Man. These kids don’t even know.

In 1991, every one of our kids was on steroids, and whatever else they could get. We had a strength staff that literally supplied the players and helped them shoot up.

That’s part of the reason we were so **** aggressive and dominant - massive roid rage.

We played the bag game like nobody’s business. We dropped more bags than Samsonite.

The Miami everybody remembers and loved were the dirtiest program in college football. The BOT at the time were savages. Howard, Jimmy, etc were savages.

We deserved our reputation as a corrupt, dirty team...and we loved the **** out of them.

Miami in those days was the funnest team to watch in any sport, of all time. We dominated and we gave zero ***** doong so. We had elite, roided up kids being coached by the best coaches in America.

And i’m not saying that just as a canes fan....everyone was entertained.

Miami today is not even remotely the same. Duke has more savages than Miami. It’s not the same program it used to be.

The fact is, this University is committed to being elite in the academic side of things and not the athletic side. I've been a fan of Miami since I was 10 watching the game against Ohio State. So basically I've never really seen us be truly great but I still refuse to lower my expectations bc I know our potential. I know if I do lower my expectations I would settle for the Golden's and the Richts of the world, which is unacceptable.

False.

We’re paying less for Manny Diaz than we paid Larry Coker nearly 20 years ago, in real dollars.

I don’t give a **** what we SAY we’re WILLING to pay...talk is cheap. I care what we DO pay.

We have a green, bargain-basement staff. Hope it works out, but hope is a ****** strategy.

We pay more $ for coaches than UVA, Duke and GT. We have had and for the foreseeable future, will have significantly more talent than them. We still lost to them. Get a competent coaching staff in and we’ll be winning at minimum 9-10 games every year and we will get top 10 recruiting classes like last year. Do that consistently and we can compete on a national level again. We don’t need “bags” or Nick Saban to beat Duke.

Too bad for them, they’re not close to elite on the academic side.

Hope springs eternal, but there are no facts supporting the argument that Manny will be any different from Richt, Golden, Shannon, or Coker.

It takes more than a head coach. It takes an entire operation....and that requires money, commitment, and mindset. We’re batting 0/3 in those categories.

I disagree they are spending more on football then ever before. Miami actually is mid pack now in football spending something we couldn't say 5 yrs ago. this coaching staff isn't fully together but blake james knew who he wanted and went and got him and paid the 4 mil buyout to do so. this administration forced richt to fire guys and that's why he retired no other admin in Miami history would of done that to a guy of richt's stature if anything this is the most commited I have seen the Miami administration in 30 yrs the president actively worked against jimmy Johnson back in day so for Miami this is as commited to winning as ive seen an administration at miami
