love the move to pringle ...

Wait … Lyle isn’t slow? Doesn’t seem fast on film
Agreed. You have to put out good film in order to justify a big payday from another school and that other school is a contender.

They both would be better off staying as they’ll still be in the mix starting and continue to be highly compensated on a team with playoff aspirations.

They’ll run if they’re told they have to compete for a spot in the rotation.

Did you guys see Pringle? He should be starting.

Sometimes all you need is a spark. I remember years and years ago, we had a kid named Lorenzo Lingard. He bided his time, and then against Savannah State, we unleashed him. Bang. Kid had close to 100 yards, a couple touchdowns, and was well on his way to a Hall of Fame career. You could tell that day the kid was the goods. Same as Pringle.

I’m old enough to remember Chris Johnson Jr. hitting that extra gear and turning the corner on the Bethune-Cookman defense. Unstoppable.

Unfortunately for Lyle this season is just like what happened to Bain last year. Immediately got injured early in the first game, missed lots of action than come back only to be a ghost. Whatever mojo or rhythm Lyle had in the offseason is completely gone.
Agreed still got to get him touches but maybe it’s less

All jokes aside, if someone can't tell the difference between Pringle's cutbacks and how Lingard succeeded running in a straight line against Savannah State, they should probably be reading more and commenting less. It doesn't mean Pringle should start or really anything more than Pringle has flashed actual plays and movements that translate against better competition. Let's see some more.

Pringle should get more chances because he's done well with the chances he's had. Lyle should get less because he hasn't done well with the chances he's had. Saying anything more than that at this point seems silly to me.

Fletcher is obviously RB1 when he's healthy. I hope Pringle keeps playing well and makes explosive plays this year, because the offense would be better if he plays well enough to get RB2 carries. It's tough to have your top 2 RBs be similarly not explosive as has been the case this year for us.
Crazy that everyone loved the rb room which I didn’t agree with. Cause you mentioned it explosiveness, Pringle seems like the only one that has that

Agreed

We have too many big & slow RB's...like Fletcher

We need more small & slow RB's....like Lyle
If you think Lyle is slow then i don’t know what to tell you.

Not liking what I’m hearing about this topic, regardless. It is what it is.

Good call. I had high hopes for Lyle, because the RB room needed an explosive back. He's fast but hasn't played fast this year. Pringle has played well in the limited opportunities he's gotten (mainly against scrubs when the game hasn't been in doubt TBF), and he should get more opportunities until he shows he shouldn't.

Being straight line fast sometimes isn’t explosiveness. Pringle has great vision and he’s quick in his breaks and he has good patience. He needs way more snaps at 2.

Lyle may have bulked up too fast ...now he doesn't possess the speed to hit the right holes before they close....I never looked at him as home run hitter vs top comp......Miami fans were the only ones hyping that sht......you can say he doesn't break many tackles .....not elusive in open space etc....but he's still young and developing....I think he can become a very good back....

Pringle is better at mostly everything.....but realize he's only a true freshman without much size and power to be a every down back.... I'd like to see him get more touches throughout the game....

Lyle looked explosive last year and in camp, not just from DM either. I loved the blend. It was all about usage and the unwillingness to diversify our running game and way less about the backs.

His game film shows he has good balance in HS so far in college that balance is gone. Getting hit by bigger players and he’s not as fast as everyone thinks. He outran USF with no one in site, the majority of plays you can’t just have one big run. You need to have a lot of great plays with your feet your vision, and move the chains. Lyle gets stuck at the OL then doesn’t know what to do. And his start and go speed isn’t it either

I'm aware of his current struggles. He's been awful and trying to show-horn him in their messed with the flow of the offense and has affected Marty's effectiveness.
