Louis Riddick

There's 'stating the obvious' then literally not even calling the game anymore because you simply must get your talking point across.

He was a disgrace on commentary last night.
Commentary as a whole that game was awful. From the Franklin segment that seemingly lasted an hours to the same point being brought up over and over again. I've been listening to DBJ, reminds me of driving back with parents after games listening to his postgame show

Find a new employer with integrity? I mean journalism or commentary on a game shouldn’t include an obvious bias. If his takes are so amazing, honest, and compelling he can start a podcast assuming he doesn’t already have one.
You say that, but you would do the same if asked to. SMH
They give the commentators talking points and they are encouraged to hit them and that's how the game is done. I have talked to Mark Jones about it personally and there is a lot going on in those games, with pregame talking points and jackass producers in your earpiece all game telling you stuff. It's harder to do that job than ppl know. Reddick was also saying a lot of positive stuff about Miami all game as well, but you are just focused on what you didn't like.
It's not like Reddick said anything yesterday that was out of line or "lacked integrity".
We need to beat up bad teams like VT and fight for a playoff spot. This is the system and how it will be run and we have to accept that and fulfill our part or be left out and go back to the pop tart bowl. I hate ND as much as anyone else here, but they are doing what they need to do to protect their playoff spot.
What did Reddick say yesterday that lacked integrity or was wrong? The playoff committee is not watching the end of our game; they are watching moments of it early on and then looking at the final score.
I mean let's be real, outside of ND who the **** have we beat this year that we can hang our hat on and say, wow look at that win? Because of that, we have to **** on these garbage ACC teams and not be struggling with onside kicks (which by the way of course it's our luck the dude for VT has a textbook kick that double bounced to perfection).

Get out your feelings.Miamis back is up against the wall and Mario went conservative AGAIN. Now go look at the Notre Dame score. That’s what you call style points. ND deserves to get in over Miami
LOL ok troll.

Agree completely. Totally inappropriate.

Mario didnt go conservative. I swear some of you keep saying this with not intelligent reason to back it up.
Mario wasn't mistiming a jump on a perfect onside kick. Mario wasn't grabbing a facemask when we have them stopped on 4th down. Mario wasn't dropping a TD like our ***** TE did. Mario isn't falling for a double move on 4th and long to give them a first down.
The team was still trying to score a TD in the final moments instead of taking a knee but I bet if we had thrown a pick 6 or got Beck hurt on those final plays you clowns would be in here saying Mario is an idiot and he should have taken a knee and not worried about scoring a meaningless TD in the final moments when the selection committee is going to manipulate the rankings regardless of if we beat VT by 3 or 50 yesterday.
Do you really think it would have mattered? ND is in the playoff no matter what outside of the upset of the year against Stanford next Saturday. I mean for ***** sake, they had them ranked in the top 25 when they were 0-2. Let that sink in and understand what we are up against.
It's our own fault. We can lose to SMU and we can lose to UL but we can't lose to both of them, especially when 2 of our OOC wins are against UF and FSU which are as bad as you can possibly imagine. That's killing us more than anything. If those two **** programs were just sitting on 7 wins each, we would not have anything to worry about.

You can ask ND that same question. Who have they beat? USC? Our resumes are fairly identical. Yes they lost to TAMU by a point but is TAMU really this powerhouse program who can’t be stopped or have they just conveniently avoided playing Alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee?

I don’t know if there’s something specific I can point to that’s “wrong” because this is all subjective at the end of the day, but he kept repeating, over and over again, the same exact talking point. So I guess the guy in his ear needs to get more creative?

Compared to Galloway..Riddick is a saint….Galloway is not hiding the fact that we absolutely should not be in unless like 4 teams lose. He hates us.

I actually think Riddick is trying to embed in our brains that getting in means we have to dominate our opponents. You can actually look at it as him rooting for us to get in.
Galloway managed to make me angrier in his 30 seconds of **** talk at halftime so I can’t argue with you there. Perhaps there’s a “concerned dad” angle from Riddick and he’s just being tough on us because he wants to see us grow? I didn’t get that vibe but maybe..who knows lol

It was very weird. He kept talking about this mythical prevailing narrative and expectation that Miami needs style points and to win big but was literally upholding and setting that very narrative and expectation himself the entire broadcast.

At one point towards the end of the game he was on his millionth rant about our catastrophically dire need to blow VT out and then said, “I know I’m going on and on about this and there are gonna be people out there that believe that I’m rooting for Miami but…”! He was kinda rooting for us, kinda slick dissing us and was even confused about how it was being perceived.

Mind blowing considering the TD pass we threw on 4th down up 10 with under a minute remaining in the 4th quarter. Almost like the team was trying for style points like he discussed the entire game.

I didn’t argue the merit of his argument. I pointed out the duality of and Cognitive Dissonance that was associated with how he delivered it. And his confusion around how it was being received.

U are defending your own communication style.

His statements were accurate and reflected our gameplan. Everything else is moot.

This is an overreaction against Louis. It was annoying but he wasn’t wrong. Mario didn’t have riddick in his ear to throw the td pass to Toney at the end. We chose to do what he was saying.

If you’re mad about the style of play you should be mad at the committee not him

It was the going on and on and on that just got ridiculous. Isn’t he there to talk about the game at hand. Along with the 10 minutes not even talking one second about the game while talking to Franklin it just turned me off.
There was not once second of professional broadcast journalism during that game. Any of us could have gone on and done the same.
