Hedley is working on placement and technique during warmups--he already knows how far he can boom.

Spicer is just trying to be "long drive golfer" because that is all he can offer--and hasnt even done that in games.

Exactly , noles are kinda dumb . Bless his heart.

It's not the length of the punt, it's what you do with it.

I always tell my PeeWee football squad that punting is about three things in this order of importance:

1) The motion in the ocean
2) Girth
3) Length

Actually I yell it at them from 1000 yards away but that's only due to an overzealous local prosecutor.

Louie Louie has been a HUGE upgrade over pee-wee punting from last year.

what DOESN'T get accounted for in his stats are:
- multi-technique/experience ability
-- UF blocks first punt if Louie wasnt an ARL/RU guy
-- creates more time for coverage players to get down field

with that said, I still expect better from him than this:

43.6 ain't bad at all. Fact that his longest is only 7 yds beyond average suggests he is consistently around mean. Suggests consistency instead of a Boomer followed by a 25 yard shank.

I was concerned when they signed him that his average was not quite as long as I would have hoped but he seems like he's consistent and reliable.

Is that new technique in punting where he rolls right to buy some space and time before kicking?

He’s angling the kicks which allows no return , so it’s pretty much 44 ypp with not much or no return.

Can he kick field goals?
You can see that in the warmups. Spicer has very strong leg but not accurate. Love watching Hedley punt...he dropped one on the 2 or 3 yd line yesterday.

A lot of Australian punters do that

That seems pretty good. I don't study kicking stats. Wonder what best college kickers tend to do. At least we're not cursing a legacy every time he kicks. Hate to do that to any player, but his dad was positive part of our history.

Yeah espn had a feature about it last year
Yep. My bad for not knowing this. Googled and their's a ton of stuff. An academy in Australia for training NFL style kickers. Seattle, San Francisco have Australian kickers. I don't follow much else besides Canes football now. Used to follow NFL, but not now.
