Losing Mali sucks but…

As much as it sucks to lose Mali. We still have a punchers chance with out him.

If we were withotu Mensah, it would be a different story.

Do you really think those stats would have been the same if we were down by 3?
So we intentionally went into the tank offense that cost us games in 2024 and 2025? The 3 and outs with them scoring was chess level strategy vs. clenched **** turtle shell coaching?

Come on man.

Am I wrong? The second half of Wake without Mali was inept. I was there. And our defense has been atrocious.

But I’m being contrarian pointing out that that is probably what people that don’t follow the team every game see.

Or they see every game and how Mali extends drives for us at a solid clip.
People don’t like it when you make a valid point that goes against what they think

Because we played the second half largely without Mali -- the subject of the discussion and Heisman front runner.
We also played the 2nd half without Fletcher or Brown at RB and were relying on a true freshman RB in his 3rd college game (Mallory is better now then he was then). Mensah got banged up in that game as well and the OL has improved since then. With the top WR, top 2 RBs and from the looks of it a banged up Mensah they were just looking to get out of dodge without losing anyone else. Even with all of that there were open WRs for plays to be made. Losing Mali sucks but the offense is more than able to still score. It isn't 2013 FSU after Jordan Travis went down and they looked like a HS offense.

That doesn't answer the question. Do you think the personnel and play calls would have been different if the game was in doubt?

I’d imagine they will load the box to stop the run and feel confident their DB’s can hang with our WR’s. Thats what I would do if I was Chris Ash

Annnnddd then you put Jacobs, Wingo, and Spafford in the game.

Turns into “catch me if you can” real quick.

Leaving midgame is a lot different than knowing going into a game. Not saying it will be smooth but it will be better than the wake game

gameplan is going to be run the ball, burn the clock, and protect the defense and Mensah... will only go faster/pass heavy if our defense doesn't play well the first few drives...

So they watched the second half of Wake?
This board continuously exposes peoples lack of football knowledge.

It’s totally different when an injury happens in the middle of a game. The game plan for that particular week was installed with the expectation of having Mali healthy.

The gameplan for the rest of this week will be installed knowing Mali isn’t gonna play.

That’s One of the main reasons why what happened at Wake in the second half isn’t applicable to the upcoming game against ND.

So they watched the second half of Wake?
Of course you focus on the second half of wake without adding the counter fact that Mali was held in check for most of the North Carolina game after the ffirst drive and we still scored multiple times until he got a touchdown at the end

I think the takeaway from the 2nd half of the Wake game is, without Mali, if we commit to and succeed at running the ball & Mensah plays well we can win without Mali. If we don't, we are screwed. See the first drive of the second half. IIRC, he didn't come in except on the goal to go plays (maybe he was on the field for the 3rd down too?). We got away from running the ball & Mensah didn't play well after that. Then Fletcher went out.

Against ND, without Mali, we need to be able to run the ball or Mensah has to play exceptionally well (poss/prob both considering our defense). We aren't going to win the game if our offense produces like it did against A&M and OSU last year in the playoff. Even if our defense plays better than it has been, seems unreasonable to expect them to be able to play like the defense did in those games last year.

Should be a fun game! Spot the ball and let's go try to **** them up.

I just hope we don’t go into 70% run mode, we have the horses still to keep doing what we do.
I hope like heck we do 70% run mode. Which our Q showed he's ready to unpack after last week, and that will open up the pass.

This is a Mario / Mirabella team that builds out from the OL. When we've spanked ND in years passed, they fancied that had a great D and we beat them down in 2017 running the ball: We had 237 yards rushing to their 109. Nothing shocks a front 7 like a physical spit-on-the-carpet type OL who smacks THEM in the face. And we got a guy who can scheme it up.

Generally the team that wins the ground game wins the game.

Did you watch ND play Navy? Those 230 pound linemen and 185 pound RBs (future admirals) pushed their ship* in............for one half............

*There is a better word but the porsting rules limit my choices......................

Maudes - we really cant say **** anymore??

Asking to avoid a ban

Which will be great in the 2nd half, after Mensah has the heisman locked up on about 18-21 for 225 and 3 TDs with another 40 yards and a TD on the ground.

EVERYONE IS GOING TO KNOW WE'RE GOING TO CAVEMAN THE **** OUT OF THIS. PLEASE SHANNON THROW IT WHERE THEY AIN'T AND TEMPO THEIR BANGED UP ASSES.
