Looks like Blake James spoke with a few press members today

She keeps adding more:

In late September, after ESPN College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit called out Frenk, James and Diaz for not being aligned in their goals and visions for the football program, Frenk released a long statement regarding UM athletics that included his decision “to increase the involvement’’ of Frenk’s leadership team to “augment my own direct engagement with the athletics director.” Frenk named his chief of staff Rudy Fernandez and his senior advisor Joe Echevarria as helping to facilitate “seamless alignment between the Board of Trustees, my entire administration, and the athletics department.’’

“The only way my role has really changed is that I have much more regular communications with those two individuals,’’ James told the Herald. “But I had communication with them in advance of the letter and I have communication with Julio. “It’s not like I didn’t have communication with so many of the leaders on our campus. We’re part of a university. We’re not on an island. I wouldn’t want anyone to think that I didn’t have communication with campus before all this happened.’’

Should UM hire a new coach, James was asked if there is enough money to hire a big-time, proven one. “I’m not going to get into that,’’ James said. “What I’ll say is the University of Miami is committed to winning football. And we’re committed to putting the resources in our program that are needed to winning on whatever front that is.’’
He would have been better served to refer to him as Dr. Frenk here. This shows a lack of respect.

I think it would give the new AD a big boost in approval rating and build up goodwill with the fans if his first action as AD is firing Diaz. My recommendation is to fire James first, then let the new AD announce Diaz's firing.
He needs to let Blake do the firing press conference and immediate go up to the podium when Blake walks away from it and announce Blake is fired.

Pretty much simultaneous. It is apparent unless you are trying to talk your way out of whatever mess BJ has made while keeping your job or you are one special slurper of a poster.
He knows he’s cooked too. He’s trying to salvage whatever dignity he has left. It wouldn’t surprise me if he cans Manny on Sunday in an attempt to save his own job. Won’t be enough though.

The first part 100% would not surprise me, but I am legitimately getting worried about that last sentence. Not an insider, haven't heard anything, but this school operates in such a dysfunctional manner that I can see them saying ***** it and keeping Blake. Everyone assumed Blake was muzzled and on his way out but today disproved that. This is not good.

A REAL journalist would've asked Blake today if he sees HIMSELF finishing out the season.
Sadly there aren't many real journalists around anymore.

Teams / organisations / companies have too much power. They'll just blackball you if you print something they don't like. Especially as a local. Your access depends on buttering them up.
