Looking ahead to Ohio state

My biggest concern is Patricia vs Dawson.

Have to think that Patricia is going to try to take away the run and make Beck beat them downfield.

How
Ohio State has an accurate QB that can actually throw
Better WRs
and their Dline is actually good against the run. There back 7 is probably the best in the nation. Best DB and LB in the nation on defense.
Who have they played?
DLine has shut down who? Purdont? Rutgers? Ohio U? They have played no one this year so all their stats are padded by playing dog ****

Let’s see them vs real athletes

Offense is still good but definitely not as scary as last year. Last season they had Will Howard who can kill you with his legs or arm. Their WRs were Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate and Emeka Egbuka, 3 very likely future NFL Pro Bowlers. On top of that they had Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson at RB who will both likely hit 1000+ yards as rookies in the NFL.

Totally agree. They are much like Texas A&M, feasted on the bottom of the conference them was punched in the mouth as soon as they played a quality team.

Their QB is trash under pressure, I expect a 5 sack, 2 INT game for this Miami defense

I get it, we're pumped, but all of the "schedule" critique for OSU can also be used against us.

This will be our toughest game in a LONG time. Their offense is pretty simple but effective because of two guys -- Smith and Tate. Bo Jackson has come along nicely too finishing with over 1,000 yards rushing. We have to play them straight up and avoid busts.

Their defense is my worry. They are sound across the board and don't give up many points; Illinois scored the most with a whopping 16 points. If we roll out the offense that performed against A&M, regardless of the wind, we'll be down 17 at halftime.

You definitely want to get him off his spot but I believe he's one of the better QBs against the blitz.

Okay tell me the good teams Miami has played outside of ND, if we are going to do this?

The beauty is Miami does not have to blitz to get pressure. That will be the difference. Go watch the game against Indiana, when they got home with 4, Sayin couldn’t handle it.

Miami is entering this game with 5 defensive lineman with 23 pressures or more (these numbers are not counting the Texas A&M game.
  • Rueben Bain — 58
  • Akheem Mesidor — 44
  • Ahmad Moten — 24
  • Armondo Blount — 23
  • Marquise Lightfoot — 23
Ohio State simply does not have the offensive line that can handle Miami’s front 4 and I am fully confident that they will be in the backfield all game.

They'll come in extremely overconfident....
Take advantage of that...we can beat them.
Speaking of which, they're delusional about who and what they will be facing on both lines (and everywhere else tbh):

If we had more mentally stable offensive playcalling....I'd call this a game. I just don't think we score the points to win.

Now if the defense come out and makes this the great equalizer and keep the score 0-0, 0-3, maaaybe 10-0....we can pull something out of sheer chaos. But we are most likely going to need 28+ and I don't know where we're going to get it from.

Take a step back and think for a second about the opportunity being presented to us.

ND / FSU / UF / VT / OSU

The stars have aligned and have given us the chance to take out all of our longtime enemies in one season. Who knows if we'll ever get this chance again, but we're one game away from going 5/5

Keep in mind OSU is most likely going to be rusty. Will take them a quarter to get in rhythm. We worked out a lot of kinks today from the time off. Would ideally like to be up 2 scores at half. Hopefully Damari brown is back for the game but my gut tells me he won’t be
Does anyone have any idea what Damari's injury is?

Initial thoughts.

**** them.

Post-initial thoughts:

1. The only team they have played that has a defense like ours is Indiana. UW, MICH, and WISC have good defenses but not elite. Indiana and Miami are top of the food chain elite.

2. They have a “dude” on each level of their defense: DE Curry (11 sacks), LB Reese (6.5 sacks), and of course S Downs. Their defense is “top of the food chain” elite too.

3. Their offense is RB Jackson, WR Smith, and WR Tate. But Smith and Tate are not “gadget” guys like Toney is. They are pure wide receivers. Sayin is obviously accurate with the football. But he is coming off of back to back games with turnovers.

4. Their fans complain a lot that they start off really slow.

It’s going to be a slug fest. But a turnover free Beck, disciplined team, at a neutral site indoors……SPOT THE ******* BALL
Sonny Styles is a dude as well and their CBs are physical. If we are talking about talent OU separates themselves at the LB at the LB position. I do think Lucas and Brown are the archetype of corners u want to go against Smith.

There’s gonna be a few opportunities for both offense to capitalise on. Whichever takes care of the ball and capitalise on those opportunities will win. Dawson can’t waste downs and get too cute like he did against A&M. Handing the ball to Fletcher or simply going 4 wide would have significantly reduce 3rd and long situations. Also Beck has to be better. There were a few opportunities for him to make a play and he was way off on all of those plays.

You have to take yesterday’s offensive performance with a grain of salt.

1. You had the weather, we have all Carson struggle with bad weather
2. You also have to account for the rust
3. You have to give Texas A&M the credit, the came in as the best 3rd down defense by a mile and it showed up in the field.

Ohio State is not close to Texas A&M upfront, they just can’t get pressure on the QB consistently enough to give Beck problem. Throw in the fact that this game will be at Jerry World with no weather concerns. Beck will have the time he needs to make players against them.
