Looking ahead to Ohio state

Less mobile but much more accurate QB with top notch WR talent. We are gonna need to find a way to scheme their defense or win some 1 v 1s because they will score some points.
The pre/post snap defensive changes I’m concerned with re Beck. He is prone to those types of misreads and bad plays.
Gonna be a slugfest and slow paced

This game is all about which O has the better game plan and executes better.

The defenses are both elite.

The offenses are both susceptible to the day. Dawson needs to call a game that keeps them off balance but avoids the negative plays we had against A&M..he got too cute with A&M but it may work with OSU.

But I hope we test them in the middle/ground game first to see if we can establish that early and make them commit to stopping the run so they don't get gashed. That'll open up the rest of the game.

The defense can tee off on Sayin knowing he can't really run at all so he's going to take some big hits..hopefully we rattle him early and his mind gets racing. He's young and inexperienced and hasn't faced much adversity yet.

As we saw last year the teams with the byes into the Bowls all looked very shaky and rusty. That can very much play into our favor. We are in rhythm and have momentum. O$U may have to take a few drives to get up to speed. They do have a lot of talent a good coaching though.
It is going to be such a great game.

It’s Dawson and Beck time. Yesterday I agree with the game plan given the wind swirling inside the stadium. Dawson adjusted as it was what it needed to be. Unless you were there not sure you could see the movement it caused on throws over 10 yards. Not to mention field goals! First one was perfect then the wind pushed it 10 yards right. That won’t be an issue at the cotton bowl. I think we beat OSU and Beck has a good day and once again the d plays lights out. Our lines our better than theirs just like A&M’s. Please let the media doubt us. Miami moves on!

As crazy as it sounds, I think we match up with OSU better than A&M.
I don’t see it that way at all. Our OL versus that small DL played into our hands perfectly. I said leading up to this game we had to make them earn the right to pass rush by forcing them with the run. Make them stop the run with the undersized DL. We won’t maul OSU like that. OSU also has an elite secondary. I like our matchup versus the run. The DL will have to protect our secondary against that talented wr core. That said they’re very beatable.

I always want to be the squad with a DL wrecking ****. They are vulnerable on that OL. They don't match-up well against us at all. Lashlee was saying this in the post-game show.

You have to take yesterday’s offensive performance with a grain of salt.

1. You had the weather, we have all Carson struggle with bad weather
2. You also have to account for the rust
3. You have to give Texas A&M the credit, the came in as the best 3rd down defense by a mile and it showed up in the field.

Ohio State is not close to Texas A&M upfront, they just can’t get pressure on the QB consistently enough to give Beck problem. Throw in the fact that this game will be at Jerry World with no weather concerns. Beck will have the time he needs to make players against them.
I was just about to make this point. That wind was clearly an issue. Beck’s best games have been when weather wasn’t an issue. Next game is indoors on a neutral field. I think rust played a factor as well. He did seem sharper second half when Dawson was calling those quick passes and that seemed to open up the running game a bit more.

There won’t be any wind in Jerry’s world. I think Beck just needs to manage the game and take care of the ball. 21-13 good guys. We force 2 int’s and get 6 sacks. Sayin is frail and not a big running threat. Their offense is very vanilla

A&M OL > OSU OL

and look what we did the them...!!! Our DL is gonna eat vs a much less mobile QB

Personally, I think OSU is more vulnerable than people think. Their offense is good on paper but struggles to put up points in big games. Seems like they come out sluggish in first halves and turn it on in the 2nd half. But their best win is against that team with P Diddy as their coach, because as we know, week 1 wins don’t count and are a figment of everyone’s imagination since Texas got significantly better as the year moved on. Are they still really good? Yes. But are they invincible? Absolutely not.
Their offensive line struggles against elite D lines, which of course we have. And their defensive ends do not generate the kind of pressure down in and down out like our D ends do. If you can dominate the game in the trenches, you could beat any team in America. Also, the game will be inside, so we don’t have to worry about windy conditions and I expect Beck to have a much better game.

Keep in mind OSU is most likely going to be rusty. Will take them a quarter to get in rhythm. We worked out a lot of kinks today from the time off. Would ideally like to be up 2 scores at half. Hopefully Damari brown is back for the game but my gut tells me he won’t be
It’s 11 long days till that game. I fully expect Brown back for that game.

We have the players to beat them. If Indiana can beat them, so can we. Their DC vs our OC is an uneven match in their favor. I don't have any confidence in Dawson. Need Dawson and Beck to have their best performances of the year. Need some other WRs to step up. We must be able to run the ball. If they shut down our run game, and Beck has to win it with his arm, we are in trouble.

I think if we win we at least play for #6.

It’s going to a close game. I just wonder how we generate enough points without a defensive or special teams score. We go in with the sort of gameplan we had today on offense and we’ll score single digits.
I think we have to acknowledge that the wind at today’s game was next level man. You cannot pass with any degree of consistency in wind like that. Next game will be indoors and I expect a big game for Beck.

Indiana beat them with 13 points. Their defense is strong as heck no doubt. The key for them is explosives with Jeremiah and Tate
Thankfully for us Sayin is not the same caliber of athlete as Marcel Reed and will not be able to escape Bain & Mesidor. If we keep Smith & Tate in check we have a chance. Imagine our team will be fired up for this one.

How
Ohio State has an accurate QB that can actually throw
Better WRs
and their Dline is actually good against the run. There back 7 is probably the best in the nation. Best DB and LB in the nation on defense.
We are better in the trenches on both sides than they are. That’s why we match up well against them.
