Look forward 2026 lineup before portal adds is why Mario is the man for the job long term

Moten isn't coming back so look for 2 DT's and 2 OL. Jackson will start on the OL. 10-12 tranfers look like the likely #'s moving forward for the portal and obviously it will very, give or take. Their will be surprises transferring out. Lofton and Pringle don't fit what Dawson and Mario run. I am guessing both transfer, I guess the same for O'Conner and Pruitt also because playing time as Juniors. Why even bring in a scat back?
Mario is cooking at this point.
Why are we assuming Moten isn’t going to come back? Unless he is a day 2 pick, he should come back and get a bag from Miami

Interestingly enough, I read two separate sites today. One said that Miami is now slipping because FSU has shown not to be very good??. And the other said that people are getting down on Miami because their offense isn’t explosive enough?? They’re too methodical when they score and they won’t be able to keep up with some of the other teams.Silly me, I thought the goal was to win.
The flaws are there and I don't support the people boasting at this point in the season, but 1-0 each week is enough for me.

He has been building it to last with great balance of HS and portal recruiting along with robust talent evaluation to make portal hit.

Lineup is very good without the expected 5-7 portal guys. My guess is 1 QB, 1 OL, 1 DT, 1 DE, 1 LB and maybe 1 WR in portal who start or play starter type minutes.

QB - Portal (there will be great options) for at least one more year
RB - Lyle/Brown/Pringle
WR - Toney/Moore/JoJo
TE - Lofton/Gilbert/Scott
OL - Samson/McCoy/SJ/Buchanon/Kinsler
DL - Blount/Scott/Moten/Lightfoot
LB - Popo/Wiley
CB - Frederique/Lucas/O'Connor
Nickel - Brown or Pruitt
SS - Poyser
FS - Fitzgerald
I feel like Cantwell has to be starting at one of the tackle spots.

But in ALL seriousness, (lol), hopefully we have at least put together a big board of potential portal QB wishlist.
Use really big font too for the one name on Mario's QB transfer portal board

The issue with Mario, in TrumpyCane's opinion, is that he came out and said this isn't a rebuild, TVD is the best QB in the nation, etc and then went 5-7

If he came in and said "this isn't up to standard, bla bla" from the get go the fans wouldn't have been as harsh on him
TVD had us all fooled at one point, I’ll speak for myself. He definitely had me fooled. He looked good under lashlee and against Texas A&M, idk wtf happened after that

Ironman agrees and will add his OC DC and S&C hires sucked year one, too.

Oh and the kneel down, MTSU, Cuseback game etc

He didn’t say it was a rebuild but he did say it was going to take a couple years to compete with the top programs. Think it’s been said he didn’t think/know it was as bad as it was til couple games into season

Dray Hester is going to win the Heisman as the anchor of our 86% Homegrown HS recruit / 14% Portal plug and play 2032 Roster.

That’s a solid lineup maybe another linebacker and aome lineman. I think Cantwell starts in right tackle.

He said both those things lol. Definitely trashed the OL and DL from the start

Agree about RB. We just need big bruisers. Zero need to recruit a guy like Pringle. Don't need a top rated RB to run straight into backs of the OL

Santo Mario and staff seem very comfortable mixing and matching needs against "who is on the roster" to "who do we need from the portal".

It could turn out to be his greatest attribute.

Oh, and Canes Connection/NIL sure does help.

You too optimistic. They would have said its excuses even if its true. I said from day 1, i dont care about the process am judging him when Bain's class were juniors regardless of what happens along the way. I would have said when they were seniors before the portal came along.
Give me a recruiter who can hire good coaches, stumbled along the way but i think he found his footing on the hiring.

Let the coordinators be the geniuses.

As others have said, I don't know that it's a slam dunk that Moten leaves. I know he has a kid but he can get an NIL deal to stay. A more interesting question for me is does he start next year if he returns? Scott hopefully takes the next step and given his NIL number, I expect him to start. But I agree in that we'll need some DL help in the portal. IMO, we'll need 3-4 DL from the portal (pick your mix of DE/DT).

10-12 seems to be the right number.

I don't mind keeping guys like Pringle, Pruitt, Lofton - I think there's a place for them on this roster.

The other big NIL question is if we can keep McCoy and Samson. All signs point to Bell leaving. Assuming RRod returns, I expect the starters to be: McCoy, Samson, Rod, Cantwell, portal. We'll need one other OL in the portal for depth, imo, because I don't know that SJ, Sparks, Kinsler, Earvin will be ready.
