Given the current makeup of the staff, I think that makes more since than the pipedream that is Billy Napier. Other Kuligowski and Searels (his most senior staffers in terms of age), Mark Richt is hiring guys that want to move up in CFB, young cats with something to prove and that he has some prior relationship with or knows of by virtue of someone he already knows (ie Banda by virtue of Diaz).

He's 35 years old. He failed as an OC at 29 at Clemson so I'd think he still has a lot to prove. This would be his last step between falling down to a position coach and having the opportunity to call plays again.

Not sayin' he/'s not a good coach...but...'meh'...comes to mind.

Is he that much of an upgrade over KB?

I'm pretty sure that is exactly what you are saying

Not really. I'm not qualified to know exactly what makes a good WR position coach. As a fan, however, I'd like somebody that players can relate to, can recruit and produces results on the field. KB checked off those boxes. Is Dugans better than KB? No clue. That's why I am asking...

Wait does this make Brown our OC?

If this is the hire there would have to be another hire. Right?

Not to excited about a fsu alumn but could be worse. Since Richt jr is an assistant also I thought the wr coach would be someone that could also be another co-oc and I don't know that Dugans would be a co-oc

Why? Because you've never heard of him?

I've heard of him (I'm an old fart that can recall his playing days. Just not sure he is an obvious upgrade over KB. Is he? Slam dunk better? If so, awesome. If not, why?

What exactly did you see in the WRs this year that makes you think Beard is a good coach?

One guy has only highschool experience

The other guy has coached at FSU, Louisville under Strong, Cincinnati Bengals, and USF

So no I guess he's not an upgrade

OR Better YET.... Who exactly did KB recruit that got everyone saying he's a good recruiter???

Does he not get credit for Stacey Coley bouncing back after an awful sooh yr? Does he not get credit for Rashawn Scott having a solid year after missing so much time on the field? Who underperformed as a wr this yr, maybe Berrios? But he also got hurt in the beginning of the yr and he hasn't proven much anyways.

I am not a KB slurper by any means and I am sure Richt can do better, but to not give him credit is wrong imo.

He taught them to run fast?

What is your definition of "coach?"

On the field - I saw Coley return to form and show tremendous improvement from the prior year. Rashawn Scott had a very solid year and became Kaya's favorite target early on. I thought Tyre Brady improved from his frosh year. Can't say I saw any improvement from Herb or Malcolm. I thought Lawrence Cager developed nicely for a true frosh. From my perspective, the WR group as a whole improved from the prior year.

Off the field - KB can recruit (Bruce, Mullins, etc.) and relates very well to the players. He is a role model and mentor to many kids.

Is Dugans absolutely an upgrade as a coach? Recruiter? Mentor? If so, then "bravo" we have improved. Just looking for confirmation. Bashing KB is unwarranted.
