LIVE BLOG: Miami at #14 Virginia

I fully expected a loss today. On the road against a team that’s better than you. But the whole game and losing that way changed my entire thought process. Missed opportunity. Oh well. 4 games left to prove how good you are
UVA wasn't better. Without those 3 pt shooters, they lose by double digits.

Better in Charlottesville. I’ll still take UM at a neutral site. WE won’t shoot as well from the FT line next game, but they won’t shoot nearly as well from 3. I think we still win that equation, but it will be a close game.
Both teams shot far better than their averages. But they make 10+ 3’s in over half their games. They are far more likely to do that again than we are. We’re just a bad matchup for them bc we rebound and they can’t.

It’s ok to admit. We just played one of the best offensive games of the season and still lost.

As soon as Donaldson flashed to the top of the key I knew that was the design. I get you have to get s guy open to shoot before the foul but either run three screens and a quick pop out or just chuck a prayer.
Not even getting a shot off after doing so well to get it to half court and even have that opportunity was brutal...must win the next two against FSU and BC

They were better because they consistently made those shots. Miami played awful perimeter defense, as has been the case all season. Virginia made the plays they needed to make.

This loss hurts, not because it was a bad loss(It wasn't), but because it was a missed opportunity. Miami had a chance to steal a road win over a ranked team and clinch a NCAA Tournament bid, and didn't make winning plays late. Good teams find a way to win these games, because winning today can possibly be the difference between playing in the 8/9 game or a 7/10. That said, as long as Miami takes care of business against the teams they should beat(BC, FSU), then this is a mere hiccup..

FSU could be favored over Miami, and is playing extremely good basketball.

Last second shots like that should literally just be an in bound play to your scorer. Anything over :05 try running something to get them open. But :03.2? Just get it in his hands and only his.

I agree I saw today as the cushion. I expect this team to go 2-2 to finish. 2-4 to end the year is in play with only 1 top 20 win. That’s bubble city
I didn’t see anything today that makes me think we lose again before the conference tournament.

UVA is a good team. Good ball movement, good shooters and their offense is just a well oiled machine.

We still easily won the rebounding and second chance opportunities. Thats our bread and butter. We are a good team. Today showed that. We aren’t in the air of Michigan, Duke, AZ, etc but we can play and beat anyone outside that upper echelon.

@FSU and @SMU are closer to coin flips than I thought they’d be. Ville is the 4th/5th best team we’ve played all year. BC is a win.

Frankly 3-1 would be amazing. 4-0 is highly unlikely.
