List of Top 25 coaches

Dabo is a very, very good coach.

You aren't supposed to like him if he coaches the other team.

Dislike the man but his body of work speaks for itself.
This isn't based on his body of work for his career. Top 25 coaches right now. I would put him top 10 now, not top 3.

The primary function of a HC these days is talent acquisition.

There is not a coach on that list that has done a better job at talent acquisition than Cristobal.

We expect more from him but he belongs higher up on that list.

I never said he didn’t belong higher up on the list. I’m simply saying his acquisition on the sideline has been poor, at least on the defensive side ball. Hopefully the new staff will prove to be the real deal.

We had the #1 offense in the country last season with an OC he hired.

What are you talking about his sideline talent acquisition has been poor?

I disagree with you, big time.

My primary critique of Mario is coaching staffs. Third DC in four seasons and replaced staff again, except JT. But he recognized the mistakes and moved on.

I hope DC Hetherman, Etheridge, Harris, and Damione Lewis are a step in the right direction.
At least he's shown no loyalty to his failed hires.

He said "at least on the defensive side of the ball"

Also, can't ignore Gattis.

Plus, Dawson did a mediocre job in year 1. Look at Brashard at SMU - why didn't we get more from him here?

His coordinator hiring has been average overall. But I give him lots of credit for firing all of the failed ones right away.

Lanning transformed Oregon? They won 2 pac 10 titles and a rose bowl right before he took over a 10 win team lol
Lincoln Riley is about to get fired.
Lane is overrated too.

You don’t have to like Kirby but he room uga to next level and has put a lot of players in nfl who are doing great. Everyone acts like recruiting doesn’t matter. All those great coaching minds still don’t have Kirby’s trophy case.
This is a Lie!!!!!
Yes Lanning transformed Oregon!
When he got there Lanning brought in FREE AGENTS! Oregon didn’t have a Qb, a capable RB room a Defense or an Attitude/Identity.

Mario won the Rose Bowl in 2019 with Justin Herbert and Penei Sewell.
In 2020 Mario went 4-3 and won the Conference Championship.
In 2021 Oregon was SUPER MEDIOCRE!! I think they beat Ostate but we definitely saved our Sun and brought him home.

Again Oregon didn’t have a Qb, a capable RB room a Defense or an Attitude/Identity when Lanning arrived, Mario left the shelves dry with undeveloped once highly regarded players is the TRUTH.

Mario didn’t have a Bo Nix, Bucky Irving, or a Christian Gonzalez
💯

Did you watch last season? The defense was historically bad and cost Miami a CFP opportunity. The defensive staff has been almost completely turned twice in three seasons, and the departed coaches weren't poached. They were told to find other jobs.

Dawson was doing fine in Year 1 until TVD went brain dead. Remember the TAMU game?

Yes, I watched last season the same eay I did the 40 before that.

Those guys that he fired were good hires for the most part. When it didnt work out, Mario pulled the trigger. He didnt wait at all like prior coaches.

Mario is holding coaches accountable for recruiting as well. Thats new.

I disagree with your entire assessment here.

That’s mostly false tho. The reason why Lanning had to hit the portal was because players transfered when Mario came here.

He mostly just replaced what was lost.

DJ James = Christian Gonzalez
Travis Dye and Trey Benson = Bucky Irving
Kristian Williams and Jayson Jones = Rogers, Jones and Taimani

The only position that was trash is QB and Mario still has to rely on the TP here.

Lanning is a great coach, will be a Top3 coach in the nation for the foresable future but the Oregon talent he inherited wasn’t empty.

Mario has always held position coaches accountable for recruiting. This is not new.

But, I appreciate the dialog.

Travis Dye was solid & Trey Benson did nothing at Oregon, we know him from Florida St, Benson wasn’t expected to do anything after that knee injury and Both of them combined is no Bucky Irving. Lanning also brought in Noah Whittington in the backfield as well as the second back who was Very Solid.

DJ James does not = Christian Gonzalez. This is a very disrespectful comparison, portal or not Gonzalez is a Clearly better talent.

More non comparables Kristian Williams and Jayson Jones = Rogers, Jones and Taimani. Mario’s defense was soft as Charming compared to the attitude Lanning’s defense play with.

Not to mention that hideous offensive scheme that didn’t allow Troy Franklin to be great, he would’ve been a JAG teaching PE right now if Mario didn’t Portal to Miami.

Yes Mario did leave a roster, that was full of underdeveloped names. Lanning was an UPGRADE day 1

Dude, thats what Im saying and speaks against your previous stance of bad hires on the sideline or however you worded it.

It's new in Miami.

I can't think of a head coach that has done that for around 35 years in Coral Gables.
