Surprised that lost in all the posts on the game is how well Lingard played. I haven't been as excited at a RB as when I first saw Duke Johnson. The kid is special. I know he was playing against their scrubs but he has another level of speed that is not normal. He needs to play more and soon. IJS.

He has great speed and vision. His problem is that he is still learning to block. Typical freshman issue. Once he picks up the blocking scheme, he will move up in the rotation.

I was happy with Ezzards speed on that same play. Kid has more wheels than I was seeing on his highlights.

Dude looked like someone sped up his video. Excited is an understatement for me. And let me be the first to say, I was one of those that saw his highlights and didn't think he was a 5 star.

Got to go to the game this weekend and when he took that last one to the crib the whole stadium was in awe. I know it was late in a blow out game against a JV squad, but he as a blur when he gets to full speed

his problem blocking is a coaching issue.

Naw real talk my ***** it does take backs time to pick up blocking schemes. That's an intelligence issue not coaching some pick it up faster than others not saying he's not smart or a fast learner just saying the coaches can only show you what to look for they can't make you remember when live bullets are flying.

Not to mention they run a Wing-T at his HS, so he's basically never pass blocked before he got here.

I thought he showed good patience and waited for the crease to open then crushed. I am not sure what is going on with the starting unit right now, Homer seems to have lost some of his patience. Just seems like he is hitting the spot where the hole is supposed to be regardless of whether its open or not. Not all on him, just wish he would be a split second more patient.

Doesn't know the entire playbook or pass pro consistently well? Well, Choc certainly doesn't pass pro well and since when does having to learn the entire playbook when we don't use most of it affect a talented kid's production or PT? Send the kid in for an occassional carry/screen pass. If a kid is THAT talented, it's 100% on the coaches for not figuring out how to get him on the field.

lol at 5th on the depth chart.

Yet we have him 5th string LOL This staff needs to get over it's obsession with upperclassmen. He is clearly the best runner we have but we are going to leave him 5th string because his blocking is poor LOL

An elite offensive staff finds a way to get talent like him on the field. Give him a couple packages a game.

Need to see him against D1 Power five competition to get a real evaluation. Even Gus Edwards looked good in the second half against Savannah State.

I'm a firm believer that the Savannah State told us nothing about the roster, but if we're playing it out, I think Robert Burns earned a quality touch or two in a real game based on the Savannah State game.

Just last year:
JK Dobbins rushed for 1,403yds & 7TD's as a True Freshman at Oh St.
Travis Etienne rushed for 766yds & 13TD's as a True Freshman at Clemson.
D'Andre Swift rushed for 618yds & 3TD's as a True Freshman at UGA (as the 3rd back behind Michel & Chubb)

Obviously those teams have way better run blocking than us, but this isn't like QB, TF RB's play at almost every D1 program, the only time they don't is due to injury.

Now breaking a big run vs Savannah St isn't anywhere close to the same as doing it against real opponents, but he should at least be given the opportunity to do it.

Whether he struggles with pass protection or not, just give him the **** ball in open space. HB toss play, pitch play, Screen play, HB counter play etc, just get this kid the rock & let him run. If he can't pass protect, then don't put him in for pass protection.

I understand pass protection is important for a RB, but we're not in a position as a team to be keeping talent like his on the sideline for minuscule reasons. HE'S A RB, LET HIM RUN lol.

He's the best running back we have. It's obvious. He's a different kind of athlete compared to our other backs.

Is it too early for me to say I don't wanna see Choc run the ball anymore this season?

Yea... only problem with this is any DC worth anything will know when this kid is in the game it'll most likely be a running play so you need to incorporate some simple pass blocking schemes every now and again when he's in the game and hope he picks it up.
