Who would you rather be trotting out there as your starting 3?

2007:
Colin McCarthy
Tavares Gooden
Darryl Sharpton

2019:
Mike Pinckney
Shaq
Zach McCloud/Romeo Finley
 
‘07 no brainer. Actually know Sharpton. Played with my boy from ‘05-‘09. Only edge I see in ‘19 is Pick. None of the ‘07 guys have his instincts.
 
I have a write in candidate if that is okay. The year is 1992. Setting the scene: Pol Pot is hosting How To Boil Water on The Food Channel; Everybody still wants their MTV; Not a single D*ck Pic has ever been sent over the Internet; Pee Wee Herman is about to be announced as Secretary General of The United Nations....During this innocent time in American history...the Canes trotted out my write-in candidate for the linebacking trio I would most like to see:

Michael Barrow
Jesse Armstead
Darrin Smith

The Bermuda Triangle might be the greatest trio in college football history. They combined for over 35 years in the NFLand along with Gino and The Ruthless Posse in 91 and 92 were a lot of fun for us older guys. I can remember folks early on trying to compare the current LB crew with the Jesse, Darrin and Micheal and I would just laugh, not even close! They were the total package and Micheal ran the defensive room and Gino ran the offensive room. Manny is trying to get back to the leaders truly running the locker room which I like to see, hope it works out. Those old teams policed themselves.

“Pol Pot hosting how to boil water on the Food Channel” is by far the best string of words to ever appear on this site. On any site.
 
Cmac was so underrated his senior year with us. Miss that guy. As juniors their (him and Shaq) careers are pretty close, but Manny discovered something last year with Shaq in the blitz game.

Pinckney still flashes unbelievable instincts and aggression at times it’s hard to count this unit out as far as potential.
 
2007 for me. Colin McCarthy scooping up that fumble and returning it for a TD to win the game at F$U was priceless. I was there and, despite both teams were down, goes down as one of the best games I've been to.
