Is that Manure doesn’t fire Penos, but simply demotes him to QBC. Maybe he’ll even keep him as Co-OC, but not allow him to call plays.

How would this look?

Well, we could see something along the lines of Manure bringing in the likes of Bill Bendenbaugh to be Co-OC with Penos. Bendenbaugh is the Co-OC/OL coach at Oklahoma, but he doesn’t call plays. Rumor has it that he’s looking for the opportunity to do so.

To recap, Penos stays coaching quarterbacks and helps Bendenbaugh gameplan, but it’s Bendenbaugh’s show in the end. He brings in the spread, up-tempo concepts that we’ve been craving for a while now.

And, if you hire someone like Bendenbaugh, you can allow him to coach the offensive line, too. That’s his real specialty, and Oklahoma has been dominant in that department under his watch.

I’m not saying this will happen, nor am I advocating for it. But I think it’s a likely scenario.

What do you all think?

Obviously, Bendenbaugh is a pie in the sky option. But my point is that I think this scenario will unfold with someone else assuming that role.

I think your way out there in Pluto! But I could be wrong and what not.

My fantasy wish would be the OC at Southern Cal. I think his sir name is Harrell. Or something like that. hUh.

Penos wouldn't accept a demotion and we aren't going to continue to pay him $1.5 mil just to be a qb coach
He would accept one if he’s got no other options. No one is going to be banging down the door to hire a guy who finished dead last in 3rd down conversion rate last season. Manure might give him an ultimatum by saying take a pay cut and demotion or be unemployed. Again not saying he would, but could see it happening.

There is 0.0% chance of it happening.

Yes, I’d rather we do that, too. But this is something that could happen.

Coaches get demoted all the time in football. Don’t see why it’s unrealistic.

By the way, didn’t LSU just do something similar to this when they brought in Brady? I know it’s not exactly the same, but why so far fetched for us if they did it?

No one someone with Enos' ego is going to take the demotion—and what do you do, cut his salary from that reported $1.2M to 1.5M and just pay him to work with quarterbacks?

Dude was hired to coach quarterbacks (where he's been average) and run an offense (where he's been sub-par).

A demotion for this clown to do half the job and then bringing in someone else to do the other half seems like overkill.

Find someone competent to do both, or bring in someone else to directly work with quarterbacks as Enos ain't taking a demotion like that; ego too out of control.

Don’t think he has it in him, if I’m being honest. But this is something he might do to save his ***.

The situation with Enos will indicate and PROVE to Hurricane fandom nation wide, IF Diaz is a genuine " for real " Miami Hurricane guy and all that. Because if he doesn't part ways with his OC, then that absolutely PROVES Diaz is mainly phony TALK and his words are BS!
