Lightfoot

On the final series of the game, they had Lightfoot next to Bain & Mesidor on successive plays. It shows how much the staff values is ability to rush the passer. He has a great first step, twitch, can bend, and plays with a motor. He's going to be a real contributor for us. Excited to see it.
Armondo Blount n Lightfoot were both in.

As he gets reps he can be a real problem

Blount lining up at dt is the only way nd qb was sacked. Only sacks of the game last 2 plays.
Moten was given one on the grounding play.

Point was simply that Lightfoot looks small at DE much like Blount at DT. I personally want them playing speed rushers when we have the opposition forced to drop back.

Maybe he's light in the foot

Dude is up to 250lbs BUTTTTT still isn't starting for Minot State who lost to Emporia State 27-7. He is still a sophomore!

A lot of guys on here were talking him up on Greentree that first Winter/Spring camp and arguing with me that he could be our best pass rusher at 225 and 18 years old.

There was a lot to watch on some of those pass downs. Also missed in the mix was Blount a couple of times inside just absolutely putting their guard or center on skates and driving them back into the pocket. Really a nasty rush package when it’s all working.

I definitely don’t think Blount should bulk up and move to DT, he can stay at 270/275-ish at 6’4” and play the Bain role next season. And then Lightfoot and Lowe can mix in at the other spot. Maybe McConathy backs up Blount. Then a logjam with Scroggins, Newton (maybe he moves inside), Pickett, Malik Bryant. I could see a transfer out of the back-up group, maybe Pickett, Bryant or Cole.

We only have Asharri for this class, hopefully we can flip a blue chip player for ‘26 because I don’t see a potential star in that logjam of non-lightfoot/blount/lowe group.

**** even Tim Williams was 250+ in Indy (albeit he probably packed on weight for combine).
This kid will never be an edge setter, and that’s okay. He has a role, and can still add weight to be able to play the run better. Like someone mentioned, the staff obviously trusts him enough to put him out there in such huge moments. As we get deeper into this schedule and the OL’s we face aren’t 1/4 of what we just saw Sunday, I expect this thread to be bumped a few times. He will get his, and he knows guys like Pickett and Lowe are on his bumper trying to take his minutes away so we will get his best. It’s beautiful what competition actually does.
Maybe not an edge setter but he at least tries to hold the edge from the few run plays he was in for. Which is great has the effort and motor to be great

Maybe only like 10 or so more pounds but his specialty is speed rusher he'll have plenty of opportunities to make plays this year. He was close in on the action a ton against ND
