We still got refs cheating us and a goofy *** fan base at least 20% are 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey chuckie you do know that the fumble was not overturned, right?
 
Basically in hockey this happens too. 2 minute penalty, being too strong.

He shoved the ******, thats all.

But hes the size of the biggest Power Forward in hockey, Tom Wilson, so refs dont like it.

Its the same call usually too: Roughing / Unnecessary Roughness.
 
When Miami doesn’t get calls, why even chance it when the QB isn’t going to make the play. Run to the endzone and celebrate with Wilson.

Coach expects players to play hard and to the whistle. I hear you, but I cant fault a guy for blowing a valid target the **** up even if it did get flagged as Unnecessary.

I'd rather see this than half assing, culturally.

But I'm also a ******* maniac that never wants to go back to 2006-2023.
 
Anyone want to run the stats on Miami penalties with non-ACC refs vs ACC over the last 5-10’years? Have a funny feeling we would see a statistical difference.

It's funny because there was an NHL ref whom this was done with re: the New York Islanders and another one re: the Montreal Canadiens and they were just crooked, statistically significant ass****ings of disproportionate penalties all the way.

To the point where for one guy, they pulled him from refereeing the NYI playoff run earlier this decade.

I feel like there was a post going around last season about us being a huge outlier in net penalties called for/against.
 
If it’s blindside, it’s just a bad call. If it’s unnecessary roughness, it’s not consistent with how this is being called in college football. The quarterback was 11 - 15 yards from the player with the ball and pursuing. He wasn’t just walking around. The player with the ball was a defensive lineman’s at the 40 yard line. There is no ruling on when a player is technically out of a play but what is taught is if it’s out of the red zone, 25 yards if pursuing is a good distance. If he wasn’t pursuing that’s another discretionary decision an official has to make.

IMO, a quarterback being 11-15 yards from a defensive lineman at the 40 and pursuing is 100% in the play and can be block. Again no ruling on this, but it’s definitely not consistent

This quote I just learned: Miami did not receive an answer after querying the ACC for multiple calls against SMU that included the one on Lightfoot.

This absolutely led to Chris Lee being pulled from reffing the series as expected. It blew up on social media.

I can't find the New York Islanders one.

Point is, refs are human and can be biased. And the anti-Miami bias pervades the national sports media world (especially re: NIL & the portal), so it wouldn't surprise me if they are influenced by it.
 
I hate the fact that the Lightfoot call was made but, but similar to targeting, it IS a call the refs are made to look out for. If there isn’t a reasonable chance a player can make a play, you can’t lay him out. Just because the QB is chasing the play doesn’t mean he’s reasonably going to get Wilson.

You used to be able to do this. If you were between the lines, you were fair game. But they have tried to phase out these hits considered “away from the play.” The QB needed to be at least 5 yards closer to Wilson for Lightfoot to get away with that.

Lightfoot is probably our best player on defense, so I’m not gonna be out here telling him to tone it down. He’s an absolute beast who plays a million miles a minute. Just needs to be a little more aware to gear down on plays like this and potential RTPs.
 
Again. He shoved him. He didn't shoulder tackle the guy into Dante's 4th Circle of ****. So sorry Lightfoot is a physical ******* freak and the guy was ragdolled.

Besides, just from an optics standpoint CMU rotates all 3 QBs. Not like he was trying to send say, Dante Moore, into the shadow realm to gain a competitive advantage here.
