Oh, then my bad. Didn't understand the video shown being called roughing.
 
Right. It was after the sack. It’s the same type of BS call they made on John Beason back in the day and Klatt is still bitter about it.

So based on these two plays, for future reference, you are unable to block the QB after a fumble. Everyone else is fair game. But the QB is the princess out there and cannot be touched even though they are trying to tackle someone!

Correct. That is what the announcers said.

Initial hit looked clean but he was penalized for some other (phantom) illegal hit on the QB

That's what the announcers said, but if you look at the video as it pans toward Wilson running with the ball you'll see Lighthouse step over the QB and begin to run toward the ball

It was a bull**** call. If I had to guess, the ref blew the whistle inadvertently (which is bad) but leaned into the whistle instead pulling the classic "my bad".

Not a great night for the ACC officials in this game
 
If unnecessary roughness was on the sack, that would have negated the sack and fumble and instead given CMU a first down. If that BS was an inadvertent whistle I don’t even know what to say.
 
Getting jobbed by the officials happens to every team. But I am telling you when it happens to Miami it takes points of the board more times then not.

Marty last year against Florida - inadvertent whistle. Saves Florida from getting completely embarrassed.

I am sure I am missing a couple over the last few years. Simply maddening.
 
My hope is this was a MAC crew because they were not good.

This specific play, my assumption is Lightfoot blocked/hit the QB after the turnover. After turnover the QB is “protected” unless he chooses to go try to make a tackle

I have my frustrations with the officials every week, but from a coaching perspective we do not teach some of these rules that the players need to be aware of….
