Lewis III Gives Update

If the kid deserves a ship give it to him. Just cause dad can afford doesn't mean the young man didn't earn it.

Very difficult topic, not so simple.

1. Ability v. Competition: Does anyone really know how good he is? Did anyone see him play? The kid dominates the competition, that is what he is asked to do. All he can do is play to the best of his ability, he can't control his opponent. I don't know if he is undersized in terms of height/weight at RB or DB.

2. Legacy: The dad is one of the most important and best players in Miami's history. This is his son. This is a supreme legacy. While a legacy doesn't guaranty you a scholarship, in this case it is more important given who his father is.

3. Affordable v. Honor of Scholarship: Assuming that dad would pay for his son's college if he had no athletic ability, dad can certainly afford to send his son to school without feeling any financial effects of a costly private school (assumption yes but the guy has made a ton of ******* money). I am not the biggest fan of giving a scholarship to someone who can afford to give it to someone else (see Cannon Smith). It is an honor to earn a scholarship, I get this...but it is important to be a team player and put the program first.

Final Conclusion: Let the son keep his ship, if on NSD we don't need it, let him stay on scholarship. Like a preferred walk-on who gets the first scholarship available.

Ahmad Black was a 2 star and only offered because of the other players that year at Lakeland. FACT. Kid was an after thought.

There isn't a single thing about Ray Lewis III that strikes me as Miami caliber on film. I don't usually look at stars and offer sheets but the fact that he's a 2* with no offers other than Miami - and plays extremely weak competition - is telling. If his talent was being sold short how come lesser programs in the Southeast haven't offered?

Most telling for me is how he maintains ijn interviews that the coaching staff doesn't even have a position for him when he comes in. If the coaching staff evaluated him and was counting on him to contribute somewhere they would have a plan for him when he comes in. No position = clipboard holder.

Do you know all of this to be 100 percent fact. Do you know Ray Lewis 3 Personally? Do you know for a fact the coaches will make him a"clipboard holder"? Or is this is all speculation? Do you know fora fact he has no other offers? Or is thiS speculation as well? How do you know he will not contribute down the road? Rivals has him as a three star, ESPN has him as a three star, where is he a 2 star? Are you on the Miami staff?

I think A lot of you guys are selling him short too

Fans with wifi, some youtube clips read a few "stories" on the net and suddenly think they are all D1 recruiting coordinators, lol.

If Miami doesn't win, we all ***** on the internet. But Golden, his staff and their families don't eat. Guy has been recruiting up a storm in the worst environment short of PSU. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

And while were at it, lets maybe not rip on a 17 year old kid who is not only going to be a Cane, but comes from the bloodlines of greatness, is son to one of the greatest to ever lace them up.

The same guys ripping RLIII here would be killing the staff for taking Ray Lewis if the internet was prevalent back then. Enough. Lay off, people.

+10000000000000. Lol I see guys make up these "stories" on here, which are essentially all speculation, and it's the furthest thing from the truth. However, they refuse to believe the truth when it comes out. Lmfao. I seriously wonder what a guy like Savpban or Golden would say to some of these so called "recruitniks" lmfao(who came up with that name) about their evaluations, and what they think about a prospect.

An afterthought doesn't get offered by Bama, Clemson, LSU. Let me know when RL3 gets offers like those.

So how do you know he had the offers? I say bs

Its listed by both major recruiting websites. Both of which have him also listed as a 4 star player. You really trying to tell me that both of the, went back years later and added 2 stars and the same major offers? They miss out on plenty of kids. They don't go back and add stars and offers just make themselves look smarter. The guy got plenty of attention, he wasn't some flying under the radar type of kid. To compare him to RL3 is dumb. I can find plenty of low ranked kids that didn't go on to do ****.

Stop playing Switzerland. Do you think this kid is a Miami talent, or not?

The point of this message board is to give your opinion on recruits no matter what your level of expertise is.

BTW you were saying the same thing during the Coker and Shannon eras, dont think that us long timers have forgotten how much of a homer you are.

Apparently you haven't gotten the memo. Only those of us with collegiate experience are allowed to criticize anyone related to UM.

Chicken,

Think Clemson and this kid this year Robert N. That year every school wanted Rainey,John Brown and the Pouncey twins. Ahmad Black was a afterthough that got a scholly because of them.

Ray III deserves a Miami scholly

The same guys saying he doesnt are the ones that had Jakari Gore penciled in as a starter here. Jakari was slow and small.

Ray is short but stout and pretty quick.

Where in my post did you see anything that was stated as facted or intended to be interpreted as me being a Miami staff member?

I do know for a fact that he isn't being recruited by other schools because he just said so on Canesport. I also know he has no offers cause his profiles don't list any other offers, and profiles usually list more offers than what's actually true.

I don't think he will contribute at Miami because he has extremely limited physical ability and doesn't even seem to have the instincts and savvy to make up for it.

Im not saying that he didn't benefit from others or wasn't given a boost in his ratings for whatever reason. The fact is, he had other offers and wasn't some unknown. The point wasn't whether his ranking and offers we're justified(clearly they were). It's that other schools did recognize that he had some talent and were after him. As of right now, despite being Ray Lewis's son and getting/accepting an offer from Miami, nobody has really paid any attention to RL3. Maybe that changes this year. Maybe it doesn't.

See that's the point. I'm one of the few people on here, people who work in business, restaurants, car washes, entertainment, landscaping, and fast food service, to admit that I'm not qualified to make recruiting decisions. Especially since I have maybe 10% of the information that a coaching staff who vets these kids properly does.

Guess what? If you were qualified to make evaluations, you'd be making evaluations. But you're not. ****, the NFL, with 4 years of ABC, ESPN and coaches tape, doctors, wonderlics, work outs, and more of fully developed adults, misses in the draft 50% of the time.

But you think you are qualified to evaluate 17 year old kids off of youtube.com clips? Wow.

You can say whatever you want. Its a free country. If you want to rip a 17 year old kid because you get off thinking you're qualified to evaluate talent in your cubicle or behind a bar, that's your own special problem.
