Applwhite is a head coach already. Why would he leave Houston? This is a weird question because your tree, IMO, involves your contemporaries. But I see this as an easy answer. Keep Dugans and Hartley, if not for their coaching ability but for their recruiting ability. Hire a stud OC to also coach QB's, and get a new RB and OL coach. I'm betting Diaz lands Major Applewhite as OC. Regardless, once the OC is hired, you're then looking at the OC's coaching tree more than the HC's.

Jess lost most the DL targets not sold on him yetI'd keep Jess, though. Hartley, Dugans, Simpson, Maybe Banda and Rumph is on the fence for me.
Better than ColeyI don't know why some of yall are trippin' about Ponce. He's a really good offensive coach.
Name-wise he's not a splash hire but his offense is legit.
Of course because everyone on defense will be retained. If you believe 75% of the offensive staff is staying, I'll take that bet right now.I will bet ANYONE on here $1000 that at least 75% of the staff is retained, if not more.
Yep, going based off an already great dline let's see what he does next year when he doesn't have 2 all Americans carrying the dlineJess lost most the DL targets not sold on him yet

im not a fan of the hire but its clear where my heart belongs but WOW you are not normally this positive.I think the hire is pathetic and lazy. I wanted an established HC and an offensive guy.
However, Diaz has the personality of charisma of a great head coach.
And although I think his defense is overrated, it's good enough to compete for national championships if it's paired with a great offense.
Will he send the whole offensive staff packing, though?
Does he have the balls to essentially say "Hey I know we've been grinding/coaching together for the last 3 years but yall boys gotta go."
I don't know. I don't know what his relationship is like with those coaches on the other side of the ball. For all we know, he may like them and be apart of the excuse train. ("Kids aren't executing.")
Yall are ASSUMING that Manny disapproves of the offensive staff and is going to clean house. We don't know that. I sure as **** hope so, though. I'm sure he's not a fan of having his defense on the field all game.
With that said...
When coaches get their first HC gig they often call on guys from their tree to join them. Sometimes new HC's like familiarity.
Let's talk Manny's tree. Who has he coached with over the years that has been good on offense? I'm genuinely asking because I don't know, but I'm betting that those will be some of his first phone calls. It's not always sure-fire but this may give us a good idea at who he may be targeting.
Has he worked with anybody in the past worth considering?
A good offensive staff can make Diaz successful here IMO.
Ponce will be OC/QB, Jon will be moved to STs with Hartley, and everyone else except maybe Searles will remain.
How is he the OC but he doesn't call plays?
You're saying App State's HC is the OC and Ponce is a puppet? (serious question)
Yep.didnt he and applewhite coach together at UT?
