Let's hope 2018 is the 1997 of Butch era...

Great analysis but man we shouldn’t have to go into recruiting to figure out why we can’t beat BC Duke and Virginia . Idc who at QB . We should be able to beat them with DeeJay at QB . BC ain’t got one 4 star but talent is the problem 🤦🏾‍♂️

Is that why Rosier missed wide open receivers

notice i said wide open

Guess we all missed the part where Richt recruited a bunch of future hall of fame QB's to replace Rosier, but bad guys kidnapped his daughter and forced him to play Rosier anyway?

Correct me if I tell a lie, but Richt has been here coaching Rosier for almost three full seasons now, hasn't he?

  • QB: Perry or whoever wins the QB battle should be better than Malik/Perry 2018.
  • OL: has some young studs that could be ready in the next couple of years.
  • RB: will most likely all be back with a couple of young studs in year 2
  • WR: should get bigger and better with more experience and development
  • TE: Jordan and Mallory should continue to develop and get more physical
The Key is for the staff to keep this young team together and continue to develop and recruit their asses off.... I'm hoping the best.

Thanks for the time and effort you put into this to try and squeeze out a little optimism for the future during these days of our great lament.
It sounds suspiciously like last year: Perry, the savior was going to jazz up the offense, The O-line was going to be better, we had great running backs, should have the best WRs going when everyone got healthy. But I'm right with ya hoping for the best.

Trust me... I was pretty disappointed after the LSU game seeing Malik being Malik again and still starting. Kind of knew this season was going to be wasted, held out hope that Perry was better and now hoping to see Jarren....

This man has been a head coach for 18 years straight there is need to show no similar trends to other coaches..9-4 and occasional 10-3 is the norm with him.

This is like the 4000th iteration of 1998/1999 that I’ve read over the past 10+ years. Every single one has been wrong and I’m pretty sure NEXT year a few posters will once again come up with their own version of 1998/1999. The only thing this year has in common with that time is that Richt is still calling the same **** plays that he was back then. 🤢😩🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Difference between butch s team then and ours now.is that team worked it's a$$ off to get where it was at.this team now doesn't work as hard and it shows come game time during the game when players start to get tired the mistakes pile up.

1997 was a mess! Butch brought in a very good class that year and he canned Bill Miller in 1998 a d brought in Schiano for 99 season. Grow a pair Mark and fire dead weight including your son.

It does not feel like 1997 all over again.

lulz @ anyone who thinks Mork Rich is going to be able to evaluate, recruit and develop players like the best that ever did it.

Butch Davis is a football God!

Talent on offense this year is not as great as everyone thinks it is... our most talented players are still 18-19 years old. I updated this list with the star and composite rankings our of HS.

Out of the 10 players who have been here for more than 2 years on offense... only 3 were ranked in the top 300 coming out of high school and none in the top 200. The highest ranked was Bar Mil at #216 who has yet to contribute at the U in 4 years. This is why I think we will get better on offense next year by default... more than half of our most talented players have been here for less than a year (10 out of the 19 4 Stars ). 16 out of our 19 4 Stars on offense are either 1st or 2nd year players.

Sorry, I still see a lot of similarities...

Miami came into the 1997 season ranked #13 with great expectations. Some reasons for optimism on offense?
-Returning staring SR QB who led team to 9-3 record and #14 ranking previous year.
-Return of #1 WR who missed previous season due to injury and suspension
-Return of leading rusher and promising young second year backup.
-3 starters back on OL

Miami 1997 Offense:
QB
*Ryan Clement – SR returning starter with similar # to Rosier, 58.8% comp, 10 TD, 11 Int
Scott Covington – JR Backup QB who got to start as SR the following year leading team to 9-3

RB
*Edgerrin James – SO RB starting for first time
James Jackson – RFR rushed for almost 600 yards
Dyral McMillan – JR RB who was leading rusher from previous year, played in only 3 games
*Carlo Joseph – JR FB who was converted from LB by Butch
Najeh Davenport – FR RB

WR:
*Reggie Wayne – FR who lead team with 48 receptions and 640 yards
*Daryl Jones – FR who appeared in all 11 games with 252 yards
Santana Moss – FR who played in 8 games and had 269 yards
Omar Rolle – JR who appeared in 9 games with 13 catches
Magic Benton – JR who appeared in 8 games with 6 receptions
Andre King – FR who appeared in 8 games with 5 catches
Jammi German – SR, did not play

TE
*Bubba Franks – FR starter with 19 receptions for 294 yards and 4 TDs
Mondriel Fulcher – SO TE who played in 9 games
Chris C. Jones – SR who appeared in 5 games with 2 catches

OL
Kerlin Blaise* - SR returning starter who signed as FA and had 6 year NFL Career
Carlos Callejas* - RSR starting for first time
Damond Neely* - JR returning starter
Robert Sampson* - SO starter
Mike Wehner* - SR
Robert Hall - SO
Ty Wise - SO
Richard Mercier - JR
Brian Bippen – JR
Robert Sampson - SO
Eric Schnupp – SO
Martin Bibla - FR

-Butch Davis was 5-6 in year 3... banners started flying
-Mark Richt is 5-4 so far in year 3... banners will start flying
This is an abjectly absurd correlation. Butch went 5-6 year 3 under crushing sanctions, the worse non-death penalty in NCAA history.
Richt is/was operating under ZERO PROBATION/SANCTIONS and has regressed severely in year 3 due to no external forces like massive NCAA sanctions. The only thing crushing this team, is Richt and his pathetic softness and incompetence.
