Let's all please remember how bad at football Sunny Odogwu was when he first got here and what Kehoe has been able to do with him. I'm not saying our OL play had been anywhere near satisfactory this year, but to say the man is a bad Oline coach is just false. I would like to see what he could do with the dogs he has next year, as this year he was forced to rely upon young players that were **** near a liability in pass pro
Walton is better than Yearby. Walton has a full stride blast to the hole, whereas Yearby is a chopper. He takes 4 strides to Walton's 2. Watched Yearby carefully today and if he were a longer strider, he would have had some longer runs. Duke Johnson was a strider, he had over 1500 yards rushing in 2014. The team had over 2000 yards total. This year, Yearby is at around 960 and our total rushing as a team is around 1500.
The OL was in constant flux due to Golden's insistence that Art rotate the linemen. The last couple of games saw more continuity to the line, without the rotation. IMO, Linder and Odogwu were the best this year. Get rid of Swasey and bring in a SC like Moffett, and you will see the type of OL Kehoe wants to play with. One thing to realize about Kehoe, from the past two years he has Feliciano, Flowers, Linder on active rosters and McDermott on a practice squad in the NFL.
Kehoe knows what he is doing. The HC needs to give him to tools to make the line better.
Kehoe is a good coach. Hes just not versatile. He cant coach for all types of schemes. Our o-lines always look best when the qb is under center and we are using the zone blocking scheme with traditional power formations.
But our O line has not been great for a while. There has been no growth this year. Coaches have to evolve too, not just players. In that case Kehoe is like Golden... hard headed trying to fit square pegs into round holes.
O-line hasnt been too bad the last few years, really. Been pretty **** good considering the dumb ash playcalling weve had here.
I never said we should keep kehoe. I think there are better coaches out there.
What im saying is.... why not work with what you got? Why not play to his strengths if your offensive coordinator
