#2 Passer in the Country
#6 WR in the country
1 top 20 defensive player in the country
1 top 25 defensive player in the country.

What are the keys for slowing these guys down. They seem to be on a roll…

Also averaging 35ppg.

You gotta watch the LB Nick Jackson when blitzing.

Who covers that WR?

Can Miami slow Brennan Armstrongs red hot start?

Some matchups to be had across the board.

I found it interesting that we have the 9th hardest remaining schedule in the country, when you consider upcoming opponent rankings and adjusted for home/away. And we've already played 3 teams who are 11-1. Kind of crazy to me that we could wind up having one of the hardest schedules in the country, I certainly didn't think that'd be the case in the off-season and also with how awful the ACC seems to be.

So, for those of you who want Manny canned yesterday and who think he has no shot of doing anything positive here, the next few weeks should do him in. And for those of you who think that, provided he turn it around and reel off a bunch of wins, it would save his job and potentially prove he's not a complete lame duck, doing so against the 9th hardest schedule should provide some optimism. Contrary to popular belief, he's still the coach, so this chapter is yet to be written officially. The next 5 weeks will make or break him, IMO. (I know, I know, he's already broken. We get it). UVA, UNC, NC State, Pitt, and GT. Starting with UVA......wow, is their defense terrible. Worse than ours, if you can believe it (and they haven't played Alabama). I take absolutely nothing from the High School game we played Saturday, and neither should anyone else. But a step in the right direction on offense and possibly a glimmer of hope that one of the young QBs might actually be able to win some games for us would be to come out and put 450+ yards on UVA on Thursday night. Their defense is so, so, so, so bad. Check out these ranks:

Scoring defense -- 109th (36.7 PPG allowed)
Total defense -- 120th (7.05 YPP allowed)
Rushing defense -- 114th (237 YPG allowed), also 120th in YPC allowed at 5.97. 6 yards per carry allowed!
Passing defense -- 98th (266 YPG allowed), also 102nd in YPA allowed and 107th in passer rating allowed
TFLs -- 111th (4 per game)
Sacks -- 104th (1.33 per game)
First downs allowed -- 119th (26.3 per game)
3rd down conversions allowed -- 112th (48.78%)

These numbers are from their 3 FBS games, Illinois, UNC, and Wake. UNC definitely has an explosive offense as we know, but Wake and Illinois do not. So they literally do nothing well. They suck at every single aspect of playing defense. Can our offense put up some fireworks? Or will we still be stuck in the mud?

Check out their D stats provided by OBM.

Is there anything worse than a UVA Miami match up? We always produce the most boring, painful to watch games ever.

19-14
17-9
13-16

Are the final scores to our last 3 games. Why does ESPN hate America so much and choose this as their TNF game?

I watch all the acc games on Monday and Tuesday on youtube. they are condensed so you can get them in. UVA is well coached and is going to be tough to beat. Especially for this team with all our issues.

They won't give the game to anyone like we have a tendency to do.

On a side note the ACC is garbage. UNC overrated, Clemson too. NCST and UVA might be the best of the bunch.. Also Gt is playing sound ball. The one thing i noticed is how well some of these teams are coached up. We may have more talent on paper but are last in coaching. Amazing what GT is getting out of guys, and NCST too. NCST has some dudes and their OL looks solid. The rest of the ACC has issues at OL. Seriously if Miami can ever fix the OL it can win the ACC.

I know we are talking about our Canes, who happen to be one of the most underachieving teams ever under Manny, but please tell me what you mean about slowing these guys down because they are on a roll. They are 2-2, and one of those wins was against an FCS opponent, the other against the big 10 bottom dwelling Illini.
They got beat down by a surprisingly average UNC team, and manhandled by Wake.
these stats look impressive, but remember who they came against.

I actually feel pretty good about our 2 QBs. I know the opponent was a joke, but still, they both looked ready to play. They looked like they knew what they were doing. And although Garcia showed more mobility, I think both of them showed the ability to diagnose the defense and make the right hand off-or-pull read in the read-option run game (something King struggled with every game regardless of opponent). After Saturday, I think it's going to be a healthy competition there that can only benefit the team.

My big worry about this game (and probably every other game) is the defense.

I think I saw a few missed tackles last week but a far cry from what we encountered the previous week. Let see if Manny really cleaned it up.

Sometimes, teams react well to their leader going down. They work harder. This could be a potential result of King injury. Or we could lose by 10.

It is astounding to me that people put this much value on a game against a horrible program that plays in the FCS. I guess some are just masochists.

For some additional context. In 2019, Dan Enos put up 63 against Bethune Cookman with Jarren and N'Kosi at QB. Come on people.

I don't have faith in either TVD or Garcia to put up enough points to beat them. Even if we play well and hold UVA to 24, I don't know that I trust either QB at this stage to get us more than that.

Eh, not really, if I was putting that much stock in that game, I'd be pumping up the defense based on their shutout. And I'm not. I'm just noting that I thought they looked better than King in an area that King has struggled with against pretty much everyone. And I think they'll be OK - not the reason for a loss if we do lose Thursday.
