Lebatard just pledged a million too !!!

Alonzo Highsmith said he's on board too. That's three. Bout 297 to go.

The stadium would cost approximately 50 to 60 million to build something like what UCF built. That is what I saw posted on here the other day and I don't doubt that is pretty close to accurate.

The price to buy the land is the problem. Which is why they need to pair with Beckham and let him buy the **** thing. Or if Beckham fails we can go after that spot and do the same thing with the school district to avoid the taxes.

we're up to 2 million

WE BACK!

only 198 million more

anyone else with spare change .... some of you junk bond kings

You think it really would cost 200 mil to rent time in a stadium that's already being built? I have no ideas on the cost but have a hard time thinking it would be that much.

All we'd have to do is pledge a certain stream of rent payments for a certain number of years to get this done. The annual rent payments and the term of the agreement plus whatever additional revenue streams the stadium will generate would need to be sufficiently high enough to finance the stadium. In other words, it would require perhaps $200 million over, say, 15 years, not $200 million in one shot.

Sounds quite doable to me. Keeps reeling in those pledges!

Lebatard built his career on taking down Miami with the Pell Grant scandal .Perhaps he is making amends.

eff him. he keeps bringing up the picture of the empty stadium but is not mentioning the fact that there was actually a pretty good turn out but people went inside with the downpour. seriously are own media just get frenzied like a bunch of sharks and strum along this stupid anti-miami agenda.

If this nets millions in support for a new stadium, it's brilliant.

I've got a plane flying in low from Columbia tonight. If it makes it, I'll kick in a mil.

Who are you kidding? That crowd was bad. 30k in that stadium is embarrassing.

i'm not saying it's not bad. but sensationalizing it in the national media and saying that no top coach wants to deal with that is a huge detrimental to our team. and that's what he did.

that's a huge if. and if you actually listened to him it was satire. he was making fun of the other guy who pledged a million, basically saying i'll also pledge a million knowing i'll never have to pay it. but i understand most of the people commenting on this thread did not listen to the broadcast.

This is where fans need to snap into reality. SLS is a major liability. SLS does a **** poor job selling the University of Miami's football program to recruits and now coaches. Why would you want to deal with that horrific environment weekly when you can go to Doak or the Swamp? Enough is enough with this failed project.

where apparently we are still attractiing some top notch coaches if the reports are true. doak and the swamp can kick rocks when you have access to one of if not the best recruiting pool in the country. not to mention our history of coaches that go on to be successful at the next level.

I think you might be confusing the message of him pledging a million dollars.

Im not in his head, but im pretty sure he made that pledge over the irony that it would never actually happen.
