The only LB's Manny has recruited is Huff, Brooks, Jennings (more bc of Richt), Joyner, Finley in 4 seasons.

What would Miami's LB core look like if Golden hadn't recruited Shaq, Pickney and McCloud(also recruited Steed)? The answer is Miami would be starting a walk on Ragone in starting lineup. Let that sink in.

Finley was recruited as a DB. I think Joyner might have recruited as a DE before switching.

Diaz has been here 4 years and the only 2 LBs he truts are 55 and 56 both Golden/Dnofrio guys.He doesn't trust Jennings,Joyner or Steed who has to be more than healthy by now.

You can’t do much about injuries

wilder: career ending
Joyner: knee
Steed: knee
Jennings: out
Brooks: knee but available and MLB Backup

So Diaz couldn't have recruited more than 5 LBer's, while he was directly responsible for them over a 4 year span, so he wouldn't have to play a walk on against ACC competition?

I think you may be a Manny apologist

Has Diaz ever coached a future NFL starting backer? I seriously wonder how he can possibly teach kids when he never played the game. How can a kid take what you say seriously when you learned how to tackle from a book?

If those injuries aren’t there is a walk-on playing..if Joyner, wilder, Jennings and steed are available this is not a discussion..
LB for those who don’t know the depth chart

MLB: Shaq, Brooks, Jennings(out) mcloud(RS)
WLB: Pinckney, steed(out) Joyner(out) Wilder(out) Huff(RS)
STK: Finley, Gil,.

so that’s 8 true LBs on scolly..4 of which are injured..and 2 hybrid safety/LBs..we Run a 4-3..which means 3 LBs each starter spot should at least have 2 backups

So now we are blaming a coach for unforeseen luck at a position due to injuries..but in hindsight you right we should have 12 LB on scholarship

First, INJURIES are A PART of the game! They are bound to happen, any good coaches just plans and prepares for such eventualities in a physical game. Manny has not done so that's why he is playing a walk on at the position currently.

Second, like I said in my initial statement, Mannys recruiting at the position has been abysmal. His best LB's were recruited by Al Golden. If Golden didn't put in the work to recruit these players and we had the injuries we currently have, Manny would be starting a walkon.

We recruited 3 LBs in 2017, 0 in 2018, and 2 in 2019. That's 5 over 3 years including one year where we didn't recruit a single LB. Depth issues were called out then and have been for years.

This is not a problem that came out of nowhere. Manny was in charge of LB recruiting and he failed at creating sufficient depth.

Once again that’s based off getting hit with extreme number of injuries at one position..your right injuries are part of the game..when it happens it’s next man up..in this case it’s 4 guys down with season ending injuries in a 12 month span..so unless your solution is sign 4 lbs every class which is dumb..the what your doing is playing hindsight when we all knew we couldn’t afford a injury at that position because the next option due to injuries was a walkon

Pat Joyner was recruited as a LB..18 was a weak LB class especially in south Florida..is this a topic because a walkon had too play?

You obviously have your head stuck up Manny's ***.

Our roster is currently 76 scholarship athletes, are you telling me we couldn't have recruited more LB's so we wouldn't have to be playing a walk on?

This has nothing to do with defending manny..these are facts. All you doing is going off hindsight when we all knew the situation with the injuries..the roster numbers were low when MR took over and we’ve been tryna even that out. Then you count in attrition..but you don’t load up at one position year after year..you try to do that in one particular class. That’s why linebackers is a priority this class..therefore we wont have to try and play catch-up..remember in 16 the WRs room was in the same situation difference is we didn’t get hit with injuries like the LBS in the past 12 months..ideally at LB for this system you want 8- 9 guys on scolly..we have 8 but 4 are injured..nothing you can do about that unless your suggestion is we should have 11-12 guys on scolly..which would be stupid

Crazy idea... in the years where South Florida doesn’t have Miami caliber recruits, there is a big country out there that also plays football. Get on a plane and recruit those guys. It’s not like we have been getting the top of the top kids from South Florida anyways.

Who was even the last stud LB that has come out of South Florida? Spence? Hopefully Brooks.
