LB recruiting...again

Thank you for this response. Taking 3 lbs isnt oversigning. Its common sense. It should be your goal every cycle regardless of who you have or think youre getting.

You think Wilder, Steed, and Jennings are the goods? Awesome! Now go recruit somebody who can potentially be better. Never get comfortable, even of you have a stable of 5 Stars.

You want 12 linebackers over a 4-year span?

Uh yes because if Shaq and Pinckney leave next year we are gonna be relying on true freshman to play big minutes in 2019. So yes I believe we should be signing at least one more this class. We can’t constantly rely on freshman to be great players and with our recruiting we tend to not get who we want every time

...so there goes that...

Ideally you want to be recruiting guys who are good enough to leave in 3. Right now, our lb corps is the weakest group on the team. After Shaq, Pink, and McCloud (not giving up on him), the drop off is steep. We needed to replenish, and there was enough quality this cycle to do that. We basically have a 2 deep going into next season. 3 is the preference.

This is just dumb. 12 LBs every 4 years is not what you need to sign. This isn't Xbox.

In terms of rankings and recognition. He plays for an extremely small school that had like 12 kids on the team his sophomore season.

i take 2 lbs in this class.

I forsee one of our lbs leaving next year...Mccray shouldnt even be here...i would like to stockpile that position..regardless of whats there in 19.

i like proactive recruiting..not reactive. Its the reason they are scrambling around now at DT. Thats ok when u have a Kul a dl coach...who we have at LB coach not sure if he can just get the same production out of guys. our starting 3 lbs were golden recruits.

Yep, why not? Alabaga, OSU, Clemsons of the world do.

They basically recruit 3 yr players. Its part of Saban and Urbans pitch actially.

Wrong. From 2014 - 2017 a 4 year period OSU signed 10 LBs, Clemson 9 LBs, Bama actually signed 12 b/c 3 are no longer on the team (surprise). We have signed 6 over the last 2 years...and 11 over the past 4 years even with the Golden debacle. We are on pace with the 3 teams mentioned in LB signings. But please continue bending the facts to fit your narrative...

Did you even think for one second before typing this? In 2019 we will have Steed, Wilder, Jennings, and Patrick Joyner as potential LBs that are NOT freshman. Not to mention our 3 current starters will be on the team if they do not leave early. Its highly doubtful all 3 will leave early. Our entire 2 deep will consist of seasoned players...that is unless one of the freshman tear it up. Your post is nonsense...

We have a good stable of LB, plus I think the 2017 class is faster. Judging from his highlights and the fact the staff only wanted him this year, Joyner is a big time LB. 2019 setting up to be a special class with Pierre, Brooks, Solomon and Brown. Not sure where Solomon or Brown's level of interest is in the Canes, but Solomon is nice.

If you say so. Id argue taking just 1 Lb is dumb.

And wait, they broight NCAA back to Xbox!?!?

Im not sure how that disputes what was said about their pitches, or what the others did.

Was there ever a yr they took 1 LB ? Or 1 DT?

If they take four next year then one this year is fine. Three next year and we'll be tight in case of attrition

This is fair and accurate. But its a dangerpus game to be playing imo. We'll see.

Current need per position ranked...

1 - DT - need 2-3
2 - DE - need 1-2
3 - CB - need 1-2
4 - OT - need 1-2
5 - Big WR - need 1
6 - LB - need 0-1
7 - OG
8 - S
9 - C

We have 7-8 spots left. Which positions do you want to trade for another LB?

In my mind it's between a 4th WR and another LB. There's an argument to be had both ways.

Been telling people since I first saw Steed play and then later found out that he was such a tough motherfcker that he played a season of football on a partially torn ACL that he was going to be our next Sean Spence type LB. He's coming in next year and taking someone's lunch. I can't wait to see him seeking and destroying out there next year. He might not be the biggest dude, but he's a tackling machine and a great football player.

Howard is too small to play LB....guy is like 5'10 and 175lbs.

Pierre? not sold on him until I see it against actual competition. 5'6 150lbs white kids don't count.

Always appreciate the info Pete,
even though you are bad at keeping secrets.
