LB depth

Idgaf anymore about linebackers depth. We started 3 freshman in one year and they turned out to be pretty friggin amazing. Even in year one.

we dont even have 3 freshmans to play.

They legitimately will need to bring in 1 grad transfer LB or we will have walk ons logging back up mins.

There will be learning curves for the incoming guys Brooks ( Actually playing backer, played rush end) and Huff (Weight). Ill be comfortable if they can bring in a grad transfer by the end of the spring.

Good thing is we'll be running more 4-2-5 than ever

Why can't are LBers stay healthy, its been like this for about half a decade

Or move one of the bigger safeties to linebacker. Possibly could go to 4-2-5 exclusively while having mccloud as the top backup. Ways around working with bad depth. Are we really going to get anyone of quality in the transfer market who knows they won’t play ANYTHING beyond a second team role in their final year?

Finally, someone said it, they just could have move one of the bigger S to LB. If they do move a Safety to LB they should move Derrick Smith.

Yes LB depth is bad, but there are ways around it. The DE depth for this upcoming fall will most likely look like Hill, Garvin, Patchan, Harvey, Roussea, and if William's can get on campus that's 6 DE. That being said its is a good idea to immediately move Joyner back to LB. They could also move one of the bigger Safeties, such as Derrick Smith to LB, once Bolden and Keontra get on campus, leaving us with 5 S in the depth chart.

Won' be easy to convince any decent LB to come when they see we still our top 3,3year starters returning.

When you consider we run a 4-2-5, is this such a big problem?

Shaq
Pinckney
McCloud
Joyner
Huff
Brooks
Wilder
Jennings
Steed

Joyner has pretty much been lined up at end.

Steed-Hurt
Jennings-Hurt
Wilder-Hurt

Those 3 have honestly never showed anything up to this point. I vividly remember the same being said at TE...and then the season hits and we have to line up Hilery at Te..and have a walk on kid lining up alot at practice that should just be folding up jerseys.

Me personally i think we need a grad transfer guy...maybe a guy coming from the lower level that knows he would be a depth guy but will get some run and ability to play big time ball.

Tyler Dunning who was a 1 time commit might be a guy i would look at.

It’s not a problem until it’s the 4th quarter of the UF game and Shaq and Pinckney are absolutely gassed because the D has been on the field all game and the two of them have played the entire game **** near. That’s when we will see our LB depth hurt us. It will cost us a game if we don’t get a grad transfer in.

That’s where you hope huff and brooks can make an immediate impact. I would also agree a grad transfer would be ideal.

steed is not coming back for this season, he tore his ACL. There is not guarantee on Wilder and Joyner is playing DE. Jennings should be able to get healthy by fall camp.

if UM wants to fix the LB without getting a grad transfer they should hope Cameron Williams is able to get on campus, from there they should move Joyner back. In my opinion Joyner is a LB all the way, he should be around 235lbs and not 250lbs playing as a backer. They could also move Derrick Smith to LB who is 6'2 215, once Keontra and Bolden get on campus. D Smith at 225lbs could play LB just fine.

Why would you even put Wilder (may never play again), Steed (out for the season) and Joyner (DE) on that list?

Steed - ACL recovery time is down to about 6 months with the latest technology
Wilder - obviously have no idea what his status is but he hasn't quit yet
Joyner - switching to LB is his best chance to play in 2019 imo

Are you seriously aksing Rokulikatroll that question?

Joyner - switching to LB is his best chance to play in 2019 imo -- has already played LB here

It wouldn't surprise me at all if you see a bunch of our lame media reporters obsessing about us trying out a couple new people at linebacker tomorrow. Smith is a big body so is Romeo so they could start to log some minutes learning how to play in the box.
