Lawrence Cager playing TE for Giants

I saw the name on his jersey. Couldn't believe that it was the same person who played for Miami. Good for him, but what does that say about recent coaching at Miami.
IDK but he wouldn't have agreed to play TE here. He would have transferred. He's doing what he has to do to survive in the league. He always liked like a TE to me but he definitely thought of himself as a top level WR.

High school jags get weeded out, regardless of rating in college, college jags get weeded out in the pros. If you made it to the pros then by the very definition of jag you aren't one.

It depends on what a JAG is to you. Me, I base that purely on production. If you are 6'3" WR running a 4.35 at 215 pounds, some NFL team (like the Raiders) might just draft you even though you only caught 45 passes in college. But if you only caught 45 passes over your entire college career, then yeah, I'm probably calling that guy a JAG in college, too.

Bro, no offense, that wasn’t an opinion. I have several connections to the NFL via former players, current players, & front office personnel.

I’m letting u know that just b/c a guy makes it to a roster doesn’t mean he’ll ever be more than just a guy. Just like CFB have walk-ons & a slew of guys who r purely there for depth, the NFL have many (the back 13) + practice squad for depth & are seen as such. That doesn’t mean those types can’t make & stick around the league, but there’s a reason y the avg. NFL career last for 3 yrs, & it’s not just due to injuries.
And some think the NFL should expand even more. Let’s hope not.

Stats can be misleading. There’s guys who were quite productive in college but were in the NFL long enough if one trip through the chow line. And guys who waited their turn, or had injuries, and had one, maybe two good years and had great NFL careers.

Just look at our OC challenge. Gattis is terrible, and we want, no, desperately need an OC who can do more with less (at least for now). Yet, there’s no OC or WR coach living that can turn most of our returning WR room into NFL players.

Bro, his whole statement didn’t make any sense. College jags get weeded out in the pros?? Yeah; it’s called they get moved to the practice squad or don’t qualify for a 2nd contact. Lol. There’s a lot of guys who get drafted & fizzle out, more often than not…hence, they become a JAG. It’s no different than a blue chip fizzing out at the collegiate level.

And to ur point, some teams will take a flyer on a guy b/c of pure athleticism & hope to coach them up to their potential, & if they don’t, they r quickly out the league.

Furthermore, the NFL has a high turnover ratio in front office personnel, b/c a lot of them r more wrong than right in evaluation. There’s way more **** poor ran organizations than standard built organizations, so GMs of those poorly ran teams miss the mark in drafts often. As a Bears fan, I’ve seen us draft Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Enis, Michael Haynes, David Terrell, Cade McNown, Kevin White, Cedric Benson, Marc Colombo (helluva OL coach), Rex Grossman, Mitchell Trubisky (& moved up for him!)

Come on, man! Lol

Didn't Cager have an injury problems at Miami? From what I remember didn't he blow up his knee or something like that and missed a whole season. I don't blame Miami coaching on that. Cager a great story that many don't comeback from. Dude worked his bu#t off to get back in form

Facts

Cager still a jag though let's keep it 100. Anyone trotting him at wr didn't know wtf they were doing. U basically giving the CB a free release to not worry about anything deep and to under cut routes. At TE he's a jag as well let's keep it 100
